ABOUT THE ROLE

The Material Planner role is focused on improving the performance of our Supply Chain to achieve service excellence and optimize inventory levels to support business objectives. This role will work cross-functionally within Supply Chain, Operations, Procurement and Raw Material suppliers in projects. Ability to work cross-functional, influence others and knowledge of the Graphics and LPM businesses are key to the role.

In your role as Material Planner, delivering on these responsibilities is critical to success

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Controls inventory of raw materials and work-in-process. 
  • Provides information to determine status of current orders and to forecast needs for future orders. 
  • Compiles records of amount, type, and value of material or stock on hand.
  • Monitors reorder points and initiates action to replenish stock.
  • Controls inventory of finished goods for sales warehouses, distribution centers, and factory mixing points to meet salevs and distribution demand.
  • Responsible for inventory levels, inventory positioning, and planned production and sales forecasts.
  • Reconciles discrepancies in inventories.
  • Coordinates with traffic, production planning, and warehouse personnel to ensure appropriate routing, scheduling, and storing of goods.   
  • Oversee that materials are received, stored, shipped, and reported in accordance with established procedures. 
  • Furnish reports as needed to forecast estimates and schedules related to inventory, distribution, transportation, and/or production.
  • Support, assist, and complete analyses; analyze information for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure the supervised department meets daily/annual goals.  Assess and suggest new procedures and processes to increase efficiency.
  • Work with other functions to identify opportunities to improve the process effectiveness and improvement plan. 
  • Perform various activities to backup and maintain the flow of work in the department.  Ensure staff is focused on process improvement.
  • Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of the team and responsible for team leadership and tasks such as: attendance/vacation schedule, claims, training coaching and development.
  • Communicate, implement and interpret Supply Chain, Materials Management, and Logistics policies and procedures. 
  • Develop, recommend, and coordinate the implementation of new procedures.
  • Proactively communicate supply chain issues and provide alternatives.
  • Maintain high levels of communication within the team.
  • Partner with Operations to achieve production goals.
  • Actively participate in training to expand technical skills and improve services provided.
  • Provides technical guidance to employees, colleagues and/or customers.

Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal relationship builder and influencing skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Supply Chain, Materials and Logistics, Engineering or related preferred.
  • 7+ years SML or related experience.  Supervisory or Lead experience preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of all fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of Supply Chain, Materials Management, and Logistics and all related focus areas.
  • Excellent analytical skills. 
  • Understanding of applicable computer systems, such as Microsoft Office, Oracle, Lotus Notes and function specific software.
  • Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills.  
  • Excellent project management and business partnering skills.
  • Possess excellent supervisory skills.  
  • Full knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Green Belt certification preferred.
