Job Description

As a Scrum Master, you will be a coach and facilitator for our development teams. Your work will include coaching team members, proactively eliminating barriers, and facilitating team delivery on sprint goals. You will work closely with our teams and Product Owner and peer Scrum Masters to support Sprint and Release Planning, foster team self-awareness, encourage cross-training, decision-making and continuous improvement. In this role, you will have the opportunity to support the team delivering new SaaS Solutions and modernizing the technical stack. The ability to maintain the principles of a Scaled Agile Framework aligning with the business priorities requires systems thinking and influence to drive to results within the epics.  This team is in a unique position to work on high-priority efforts and understand their impact to the bottom line shortly after implementation. 

Activities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Guides and coaches internal and external development Scrum Teams on how to use Agile practices and principles to deliver high quality solutions to our customers.
  • Gets the team to a high performing level by recognizing areas of strength and improvement and employing appropriate coaching and development techniques.
  • Responsible for ensuring Scrum is understood and the team adheres to Scrum theory, practice, and guidelines.
  • Coaches the Scrum team in self-organization, cross-functional skillset, domain knowledge and communicates effectively, both internally and externally working within the Scrum team.
  • Works with Scrum Team, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to influence and drive decision making and support organizational project or product teams.
  • Resolves team impediments with other Scrum Masters to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum in the organization.
  • Works with other Scrum Masters and team members to grow within the role.
  • Contributes to the advancement and improvement of Agile practices within the organization.
  • Facilitates and supports all scrum events: Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective.
  • Acts as a leader who coaches and supports Agile teams assigned to mainly Business as Usual (BAU) work and to a lesser degree, important department initiatives and applicable portions of corporate projects and initiatives.
  • Helping the product owner and development team to achieve customer satisfaction
  • Support the product owner and provide education where needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of product or project development experience with Scrum certification, or 3 years of project development experience on an Agile Team or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Experience with project management and workflow tools such as DevOps, Jira,  etc.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating meetings at multiple levels of an organization and an understanding of facilitation techniques
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Google and Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft's DevOps Agile development tool is a plus
  • Knowledge of Azure/Azure ioT environments is a plus
  • Exemplifies and promotes Agile values and principles
  • Outstanding communication, facilitation, negotiation, and coaching skills
  • Knowledge of an agile framework or method (i.e. Scrum, Kanban), or understanding of software development life cycle models as well as in-depth knowledge of traditional project management principles and practices
  • Adept at refinement, story splitting, estimation, velocity, retrospection, and other Scrum techniques
  • Planning and problem solving with product management and delivery teams
  • Prior experience on a scrum team
  • Ability to analyze and think quickly and to resolve conflict
  • Experience with successful Agile techniques
  • Ability to work with and lead a team
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, relationship building skills, and ability to achieve results without direct reporting relationships
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment
  • Self-motivation and ability to stay focused in the middle of distraction

Ideally you will also have:

  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks (GDPR, PCI, SOX, SOC 2 ) and the ability to apply their requirements and concepts to a complex environment
  • Delivering web applications on public clouds such as MS Azure/Azure IoT
  • Configuration Management and automation, and Infrastructure as Code
  • Experience with databases such as SQL, MS SQL, MySQL, and/or Mongo.
  • Understanding of the intersection of development and operations (DevOps), monitoring and management tools, and deployment processes and tools
  • Ability to drive to big picture goals and milestones while valuing and maintaining a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to quickly identify and drive to the optimal solution when presented with a series of constraints
  • Strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability for delivering high quality work, both personally and at a team level
