Job Description

The Tax Analyst reports to the local Controller and collaborates closely with the accounting department, finance team, and external auditors. This role encompasses controlling and executing tasks related to tax compliance, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in federal, state, and municipal regulations for the school’s operations in Brazil. It is also responsible for preparing monthly obligations for indirect taxes (PIS/COFINS, ISS, IBS, and CBS). The successful candidate will ensure robust tax processes and play a key role in monitoring and executing activities to comply with tax changes.

What will you do

 

- Perform the entire end-to-end process: document registration, expense classification, analysis, and Balance Sheet (BS) and Profit & Loss (P&L) account reconciliation.

- Support the Finance team in executing the transition plan for the new Brazilian Tax Reform, ensuring all systems and ERP parameters are updated to reflect legislative changes without business interruption.

- Support various departments (Procurement, Primary Division, Secondary Division, Creative, P&C, among others) by providing guidance to improve the efficiency of the purchasing process.

- Prepare account analyses and complete reports for tax authorities on a weekly and monthly basis.

Assist with annual audits and any tax audits.

- Guarantee that the company correctly calculates taxes and submits tax obligations accurately and on time.

- Support the accounting team with account variations or unidentified entries.

- Continuously execute and optimize processes to maintain automated tax calculation workflows.

- Strong understanding of Indirect Taxes (PIS/COFINS, ISS, IBS, and CBS).

Establish and maintain a "Tax Execution Calendar" that outlines every milestone, deliverable, and stakeholder responsibility to ensure transparency and accountability.

- Monitor, interpret, and apply tax legislation for current and applicable taxes.

- Respond to audit requests, providing all necessary analyses, information.

Qualifications

5 years of professional experience

Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Business Administration/Law with tax specialization courses

Proficiency in ERP systems (Totvs/Protheus) and advanced analytical skills in Excel. 

Detail Oriented and Organization: Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. 

Meticulous and able to concentrate on specific tasks until completed to minimize risk of errors. Proactive attitude and conscious effort to understand causes instead of just effects and correcting issues. 

Ability to organize a large quantity of documents.

Communication skills: Demonstrated ability to communicate well with other departments and vendors on a day to day basis, personally and/or by emails.

Proactive service-orientation: Approaches challenges and requests and provides excellent customer service that allows colleagues, campus and school she/he supports to be more productive and efficient. Predisposition to be helpful, thoughtful, and considerate.

Technical skills : Good knowledge in accounting, tax, Protheus system, and other Local systems (ECAC, SPEDs).

Team member: Proven ability to work in a fast and reliable environment, building relationships with team members and other colleagues.
