LANGUAGE IMMERSION

Avenues students will graduate fluent in a second language and at ease beyond their borders. To this end, students from one year old in our Small World program to Grade 5 have 50% of their academic learning in English and 50% in Spanish or Chinese instruction, depending on language track.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Support the head teacher to develop and teach engaging, creative curriculum and lessons, aligned with Avenues' expectations and approach
• Lead English literacy curriculum, including phonics curriculum, differentiated reading groups, and writing units of study
• Support the head teacher with mathematics planning and instruction
• Collaborate closely with a team of English, Spanish, and Chinese immersion teachers to continually improve student learning and school culture
• Participate actively in ongoing professional learning
• Help to build a robust learning atmosphere that leads students to value being at school and feel part of a joyful community
• Foster strong relationships with families and parents

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• At least 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in kindergarten
• Solid understanding of early literacy and math instruction
• Deep dedication to learning and developing the craft of teaching
• Superb ability to collaborate with colleagues to achieve goals
• Curiosity and humility, to reflect, welcome feedback, and continually grow in teaching practice
• Bachelor’s degree required, master’s candidates in early childhood or bilingual education strongly preferred

If hired for this position, the annual salary range is between $53,000 - $67,000. The salary may vary depending on your professional experience and skills.
