Job Description

You will lead the APAC Compute Windows team as a Level 3 Manager, reporting directly to the Global Compute Services Line Manager based in Switzerland. You will be responsible for regional operations, ensuring the stability, security, scalability, and performance of enterprise Windows server environments across the APAC region while aligning with global compute strategy, governance, and standards.

This role requires a strong leader with deep technical expertise in Microsoft Windows Server technologies, hybrid and multi-cloud environments, and automation practices, combined with proven experience managing distributed infrastructure teams in a regional context.

Key Tasks:

Regional Leadership & Governance:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the APAC Compute Windows team (Windows system engineers and infrastructure specialists)
  • Ensure alignment of regional operations with global Compute Services strategy and standards
  • Act as the primary escalation point for critical Windows infrastructure incidents within the APAC region
  • Manage resource planning, workload distribution, and regional capacity forecasting
  • Drive performance management, professional development, and succession planning
  • Foster a high-performance, accountable, and collaborative culture across distributed teams

Compute Windows Operations (APAC Scope):

  • Oversee the design, deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management of Windows Server platforms (on-premises and cloud) across APAC
  • Ensure system security, availability, patch compliance, performance optimization, and operational resilience
  • Own regional backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies aligned with global policies
  • Ensure high service levels, incident response excellence, and operational continuity across time zones
  • Maintain Active Directory services, Group Policy management, identity integration, and domain security standards

Cloud & Transformation Initiatives:

  • Lead implementation and operations of Windows-based workloads in cloud environments (Oracle Cloud, Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) within APAC
  • Drive regional cloud migration and modernization initiatives in coordination with global architecture teams
  • Ensure optimal cost management, rightsizing, and performance efficiency of cloud-based compute services
  • Promote adoption of cloud-native monitoring, automation, and security capabilities
  • Support hybrid infrastructure strategies integrating on-prem and cloud platforms

Automation & DevOps Practices:

  • Embed automation-first principles into APAC compute operations
  • Drive automation of server provisioning, patching, configuration management, and monitoring through Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD pipelines
  • Leverage tools such as PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, and configuration management platforms
  • Collaborate closely with application, network, and security teams to ensure seamless infrastructure integration within agile delivery models
  • Continuously improve operational maturity, standardization, and reduction of manual processes

Strategic & Cross-Regional Collaboration:

  • Contribute to the global Compte Services roadmap and strategy execution
  • Act as the APAC representative in global governance and architecture forums
  • Ensure regulatory compliance across APAC jurisdictions
  • Partner with Security, Network, Cloud, and Application teams to design resilient and scalable infrastructure solutions
  • Monitor emerging Microsoft and cloud technologies and propose innovation opportunities

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure adherence to industry regulations and regional data protection requirements
  • Implement and maintain governance frameworks for Windows infrastructure and cloud operations
  • Drive audit readiness, vulnerability management, and risk mitigation strategies within APAC
  • Ensure alignment with corporate security baselines and patch management policies

Qualifications

Technical Expertise:

  • 7+ years of experience in Windows Server administration and enterprise infrastructure operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows Server architecture, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
  • Strong expertise in hybrid and cloud compute environments (Microsoft Azure, AWS EC2, Google Compute Engine)
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)
  • Proficiency in automation and DevOps tools (PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, Azure DevOps
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, logging, and configuration management tools

Leadership and Management:

  • Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate technical teams in a fast-paced environment

Certifications (Preferred):

  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
  • Microsoft Azure Administrator or Azure Solutions Architect
  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or equivalent
  • DevOps certifications (e.g. AWS Certified DevOps Engineer)

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus

Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills
  • Fluent in English
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver within deadlines
