Job Description

Please note that this job posting is for 2 different positions. Please read the following descriptions carefully.

Summer Community Advisors provide resources and support, help ensure the safety and security of on-campus communities, and deliver exceptional service to community members and guests. They assist with summer conferences and guest experiences and provide project-based support for Augsburg Residence Life.
The Summer Operations Assistant is a resource and support for Residence Life operations including preparing for and welcoming camp and conference guests. They assist with the management of the Residence Life Front Desk, external communication, and key management. 

Responsibilities
Summer Community Advisor

  • Participate in a Front Desk staffing rotation, as assigned, up to 20 hours per week between 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Front Desk responsibilities, include, but are not limited to:
    • Provide quality customer service to community members, staff, and visitors;
    • Maintain all desk logs and forms;
    • Share in any other administrative duties or projects assigned by Residence Life professional staff.
  • Participate in an On-Call rotation, as assigned. On-Call responsibilities include but are not limited to: 
    • Complete safety and security rounds as directed by Residence Life professional staff
    • Be present on campus from 5:00 PM to 9:00 AM, the duration of the on-call shift, during on-call coverage days;
    • Respond to any calls made to the On-Call phone; 
    • Complete Community Safety and Well-Being Interactions (health and safety checks, wellness checks, etc.).
  • Provide support for Augsburg Residence Life projects including:
  • Documenting facilities concerns/problems as identified and communicating such concerns appropriately
  • Assisting with set up and organization for conferences and events;
    • Note: Some tasks may be physically demanding and require moving furniture or other items around campus.
    • Assisting with key management and organization;
    • Assisting with opening and closing of the Halls 
    • Completing administrative responsibilities in a thorough and timely manner
  • Make meaningful connections with community members through the creation, implementation, and evaluation of community development events and by meeting the intentional interaction requirements as outlined in the Community Development Model.

Summer Operations Assistant: 

  • Assist with operations projects including, but not limited to:
    • Assisting with student inquiries;
    • Managing housing-related data
    • Maintaining organization of keys, supplies, and spaces
    • Maintaining accurate logs and documentation 
  • Provide support for Augsburg Residence Life projects including:
    • Documenting facilities concerns/problems as identified and communicating such concerns appropriately
    • Assisting with set up and organization for conferences and events;
    • Assisting with key management and organization;
    • Assisting with opening and closing of the Halls 
    • Completing administrative responsibilities in a thorough and timely manner
  • Participate in a Residence Life Office staffing rotation, as assigned. Residence Life Office responsibilities, include, but are not limited to:
    • Providing quality customer service to community members, staff, and visitors
    • Sharing in any other administrative duties or projects assigned by Residence Life professional staff 
  • Be familiar with campus and community resources in order to provide information and referrals to community members.
  • Address and respond to community member/guest concerns and needs, including some emergency response with the support of Residence Life professional staff.
    • Responding  to concerns or situations with the goal to stop negative or harmful behavior, document information, and provide support to community members;
    • Equitably and justly enforcing Residence Life and Augsburg policies;
    • Documenting emergency information and/or policy related information into Maxient within 12 hours of responding to concerns. 
       

Qualifications

Scheduling & Hours
Summer Community Advisor:

  • Front Desk staffing rotation, as assigned, Monday to Friday between 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM; On-Call rotation, as assigned, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 AM.
  • Average Hours per week: 20

Summer Operations Assistant:

  • Front Desk staffing rotation, as assigned, Monday to Friday between 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM; Some weekend shifts for welcoming guests to campus. 
  • Average Hours per week: 20


Compensation and Benefits

  • Housing credit for the Summer Semester for an assigned space within the Residence Life community you serve
  • Credit will be applied to your student account at the beginning of each semester of employment.
  • Stipend of $1,500 for the Summer Semester
  • Stipend is allocated twice a month by direct deposit.
  • Minnesota Sick and Safe Time
  • Minnesota Paid Family and Medical Leave
  • Not eligible for health insurance benefits

Qualifications

  • Students must be currently enrolled at Augsburg 
  • Able to lift at least 20 pounds

Preferred 

  • Preferred candidates for Summer Operations Assistant have served in Residence Life for one academic year prior to applying.
