Job Description
The Hotel Security Manager is responsible for protecting guests, employees, hotel property, and assets while maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment. This position leads the hotel security team, oversees daily security operations, responds to incidents, and ensures compliance with company policies and applicable laws.
Key Responsibilities
Manage, train, schedule, and supervise security officers and other security personnel.
Develop and enforce hotel security policies, procedures, and emergency response plans.
Monitor hotel premises, entrances, parking areas, guest floors, back-of-house areas, and security systems.
Respond to and investigate theft, disturbances, accidents, guest complaints, workplace incidents, and other security-related events.
Prepare accurate incident reports and maintain confidential security records.
Coordinate emergency responses involving fire, medical emergencies, evacuation, severe weather, suspicious activity, and other threats.
Manage CCTV surveillance, access-control systems, alarms, keys, and other security equipment.
Work closely with hotel management, front desk, housekeeping, engineering, human resources, and other departments.
Coordinate with local police, fire departments, emergency medical services, and other authorities when necessary.
Conduct regular security inspections and identify potential safety and security risks.
Assist with investigations involving guest, employee, or property-related incidents.
Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding guests, employees, investigations, and hotel operations.
Ensure security personnel follow professional standards and provide courteous service to guests.
Conduct security briefings, drills, and employee training.
Assist management with risk assessments, loss prevention, and business-continuity planning.
Review security incidents and recommend corrective or preventive measures.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; college degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Hospitality Management, or a related field is a plus.
Previous security, law enforcement, military, loss prevention, or hotel security experience.
Supervisory or management experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of security procedures, emergency response, and incident investigation.
Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills.
Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies.
Proficiency with computers, security systems, CCTV, access control, and incident-reporting software.
Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts when required.
Any required state or local security licenses/certifications must be maintained.
