Job Description

The Regulatory Specialist works to support the delivery of Assent’s value proposition and business goals. This role conducts research and works collaboratively with the team’s subject matter experts and cross-functional stakeholders to provide insights into market expectations and trends, supporting the continuous improvement of Assent’s solutions.

Key Requirements & Responsibilities 

  • Conducts comprehensive research, leveraging a variety of tools and resources, on an ongoing basis to grow subject matter expertise and remain current on key regulatory changes, market and industry dynamics;
  • Supports the establishment of market best practices, using knowledge and insights, including system use, to ensure content is yielding the best results for Assent customers and to make recommendations that complement and enhance the Assent SaaS Platform;
  • Provides guidance to internal and external stakeholders including prospective customers to inform and support compliance efforts and goals;
  • Reviews and optimizes process workflows by engaging with stakeholders within and outside of the Regulatory & Sustainability Experts team to ensure cohesion between our product’s behavior, regulatory policies, and our customer’s program needs;
  • Supports Customer Success teams in the optimization of their programs and customer queries;
  • Develops and presents internal trainings  and educational sessions for all teams, building a reputation as a capable expert;
  • Creates samples and case studies for prospective customers;
  • Manages the development and ongoing updates of reporting templates for the integration of supply chain regulatory and sustainability data into enterprise reports;
  • Supports the engagement of market stakeholders (customers, prospects and associations) and market trends to gather feedback on supply chain related regulatory and sustainability topics, and synthesizes insights into actionable steps that improve Assent’s alignment;
  • Participates in industry events, speaking engagements, and conferences as needed;
  • Conducts gap assessments of Assent’s solutions to existing standards, frameworks and key regulations to ensure the market viability of Assent’s offering, and viability of new potential providers into the solutions suite;
  • Provides updates to internal tools when risk evaluation is applicable to support supply chain investigations

Qualifications

We strongly value your talent, energy and passion.  It will also be valuable to Assent if you have the following qualifications,

  • 5+ years of practical experience related to product regulatory compliance, product stewardship or sustainability, design for compliance, materials/substances compliance, chemistry, circular economy, product stewardship, LCA or similar OR practical experience working in a compliance function in a large manufacturing enterprise;
  • Relevant post-secondary degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering, Environmental Law, Design for Environment, or similar relevant field; 
  • Comprehensive understanding of product regulations and standards, processes, legislative frameworks, and developing understanding of regulations with increasing complexity;
  • Solid understanding of compliance market dynamics and manufacturing practices, and how they impact specific Assent customers;
  • Solid understanding of Assent's value proposition, competitors, and prospect/customer profiles. Familiarity with the Assent platform and similar regulatory compliance platforms is desirable;
  • Strong research and analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to devise solutions based on limited information;
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills with the ability to create content and adjust messaging to adapt communication to varied audiences, supporting Sales, Marketing, and Product engagements; 
  • Proven ability to contribute to professional content and participate in industry events;
  • Superb collaboration and influencing skills - able to establish strong cross-functional relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders both internal and external, inspiring trust; 
  • Highly motivated self-starter with proven ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and drive results. Demonstrated ability to work independently, with work reviewed at critical points;
  • Effective time management and organizational skills, effectively aligning commitments to priorities;
  • Growth mindset, with innate curiosity and pragmatic optimism that supports ongoing learning and continuous improvement.
  • Working Conditions:
  • Must be flexible with hours to support teams in multiple geographies.
  • This position may require occasional travel for team and industry events, conferences, and customers.
