Job Description

Position Summary

We are looking for a quality-first Software Developer in Test (SDET) who brings a strong QA Analyst mindset to software delivery.

This role goes beyond writing automated tests. You will act as a bridge between Product and Engineering — deeply understanding what and why we are building before engineering how to validate it. You are analytical, user-focused, and risk-aware, using automation as a powerful enabler of quality — not the only tool in your toolbox.

If you enjoy asking the right questions, thinking critically about business impact, and building scalable test solutions that protect customer value, this role is for you.

What you will do

  1. Own Quality Through Analysis

  • Collaborate early with Product, Development, and Data teams during discovery and refinement.

  • Review and challenge requirements and acceptance criteria to ensure they are testable, complete, and reflect real customer journeys.

  • Identify risks, edge cases, and coverage gaps before they become production issues.

  • Lead exploratory testing and business-flow simulations in complex or ambiguous areas.

  • Translate business requirements into meaningful test strategies and risk assessments.

  • Translate business requirements into meaningful test strategies and risk assessments.

  • Engineer Robust Automation

  • Design and implement automated tests across API, UI, performance, and end-to-end layers.

  • Develop automated coverage using tools such as C#, Playwright, NBomber, and JMeter.

  • Work closely with developers to strengthen test coverage in the upper layers of the test pyramid.

  • Contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements and automation environment setup.

  • Maintain meaningful test metrics focused on escapes, performance, and coverage trends.

  •  Drive Defect Prevention & Release Confidence

  • Perform triage and root cause analysis for test failures and production defects.

  • Partner with Support and Engineering to prevent repeat issues.

  • Lead reviews of test results and outstanding risks to assess release readiness.

  • Maintain traceability and test evidence aligned with ISO9001 and SOC2 standards.

Qualifications

Your Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

We strongly value your talent, energy and passion.  It will also be valuable to Assent if you have the following qualifications,

  • 3+ years of experience in software testing or development with strong automation experience.

  • Experience writing automated API and UI tests (C#, Playwright, or similar tools).

  • Experience with performance testing tools such as NBomber or JMeter.

  • Strong understanding of Agile/SCRUM methodologies and test lifecycle practices.

  • Experience testing SaaS web applications across multiple browser platforms.

  • Familiarity with monitoring/log analysis tools (ElasticStack, DataDog, New Relic, etc.).

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to review and challenge requirements and acceptance criteria to ensure they are testable, complete, and reflect real customer journeys and business outcomes.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • A proactive, user-centric approach to quality.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with AWS environments.

  • Knowledge of data architecture patterns (e.g., medallion architecture).

Technology Environment

Our Automated Testing team works within a modern, cloud-native platform environment. You’ll have the opportunity to work with the following tools and technologies:

  • Cloud: Amazon Web Services (AWS)

  • Version Control & CI/CD: GitHub

  • API Testing: C# with Postman or custom test harnesses

  • UI Testing: Playwright (C#/TypeScript)

  • Performance Testing: NBomber

  • Test Management & Traceability: Zephyr, Jira

Experience with some or all of these tools is helpful—but we value mindset over tool mastery. If you are curious, analytical, and motivated to grow, we’ll support you in learning what you don’t know yet.
