Job Description

The Ski Patrol Medical Technician maintains all of the responsibilities of a Basic Patroller while upholding the highest medical standards for the Patrol team. Working with the Medical Coordinator and Patrol Supervisors, this role provides assistance in the ongoing training of Ski Patrollers in the specified areas of medical related topics and skills, including Advanced Life Support. This position reports to the Director of Patrol.

Essential Job Functions/Key Job Responsibilities 

  • Provides medical training to all Patrollers 
  • Manages inventory of medical supplies and assists with ordering 
  • Maintains accurate medical training records 
  • Daily trail maintenance 
  • Supports and initiates positive interaction with guests 
  • Care and transport of injured skiers 
  • Avalanche control and lift evacuation as needed 
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Experience Requirements  

  • High school diploma or equivalent required 
  • Current CPR certification required 
  • Minimum of Outdoor Emergency Care or E.M.T. 
  • Expert skier in all terrain in all weather conditions 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities   

  • Demonstrates expertise in the technical aspect of the job  
  • Knowledge of the Skiers Safety Act regarding marking of ski area boundaries and trail closures. 
  • Proficient knowledge of industry trends and best practices  
  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures  
  • Ability to work in collaboration with others to achieve team goals  
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures and exercises caution when working    
  • Ability to develop strong working relationship with those contacted in the course of work  
  • Ability to notice and address small discrepancies in work or customer feedback  
  • Ability to engage with customers in a positive and helpful manner  
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, completing work at a high standard  
  • Able to work in adverse weather conditions for extended periods of time 

Additional Information

Work Environment & Physical Demands 

  • Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, bend or be on your feet for extended periods of time  
  • Regularly work in wet, cold, hot conditions requiring the use of protective apparel/equipment to prevent exposure to the elements and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces 
  • Must be able to frequently lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance
