Job Description
Position Summary
The Director of Sales (DOS) will lead the commercial launch and ongoing revenue performance of The Nell, New York, Aspen Hospitality’s highly anticipated opening at Rockefeller Center in the Fall of 2027. This role is first and foremost a pre-opening commercial leadership position. The DOS will be responsible for building Nell’s transient, group, and events pipeline, contracting anchor corporate accounts, activating key consortia and TA networks, and ensuring the property meets its on-the-books targets before a single guest arrives. Following opening, the DOS will lead all transient, group, and event sales efforts to achieve and exceed revenue and profitability targets, while managing, mentoring, and developing the sales team. The DOS will serve as Nell’s primary commercial representative to the luxury travel advisor community, global consortia programs, corporate accounts, and local and national organizations. This position reports to the Hotel General Manager and Vice President of Sales.
The salary range for this position is $170,000 - $200,000. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience; all our salaried roles are eligible for bonus.

Essential Job Functions/Key Job Responsibilities
• Divisional leader for the following departments: Transient, Group & Onsite Event Sales
• Responsible for the property’s proactive and reactive sales efforts, providing day to day leadership to Sales and Event managers to achieve hotel sales objectives and revenue goals
• Develop personal and team sales goals and strategies and ensure alignment with the brand business strategy
• Execute sales strategies for guestrooms, meetings and onsite events to ensure individual and team booking goals are achieved
• Assist leaders of hotel revenue generating departments in the development of effective revenue strategies and provide team and individual strategic direction to achieve budgeted revenue goals
• Ongoing research of competitor's sales team strategies to identify ways to grow occupancy, RevPAR and increased overall market share for the hotels
• Facilitate sales strategy meetings to provide and solicit team input weekly
• Lead implementation, development and team member training on Sales Account Management platforms, Property Management Systems and new technologies introduced to the organization to further develop our industry positioning
• Regularly review STAR reports, leisure and group industry reports, leadership reports, NYC Tourism and community leadership reports
• Maintain an awareness of the hotel's market position and develop short-term and long-term strategies to enhance The Nell, New York’s position in the local and regional marketplace
• Serve as property authority on sales procedures, group contracting and event operations and actively participate in those procedures as needed to help the team achieve revenue goals and overall client satisfaction
• Participate in sales calls with members of the Hotel and community Sales and Marketing teams to acquire new business and/or close pending potential business
• Other job duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education & Experience Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, hotel or restaurant management required
• 7 years of related industry experience required
• 4 years previous experience as Director of Sales at an ultra-luxury urban hotel property (ADR $1,200+) at a 5-star/5-diamond level required; New York City market experience strongly preferred
• 3 years in people leadership required
• Pre-opening hotel experience required; demonstrated success building a group pipeline, contracting corporate accounts, and meeting on-the-books targets in advance of a property opening
• Established relationships within luxury consortia and TA communities strongly preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Proficiency in analyzing operational and financial data to guide improvement and innovation
• Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Delphi, HMS-Infor preferred
• Results oriented with a proven track record in driving RevPAR
• Excellent verbal and written English language skills
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to collaborate with a team
• Proven ability to lead, inspire, and develop large, diverse teams
• Capability to analyze complex situations, develop strategic initiatives, and execute solutions effectively
• Strong ability to interact with guests, team members, and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and relationship-building
• Strong ability to develop annual revenue budget along with personal and team sales goals and strategies and ensure annual budgeted revenue goals are achieved or exceeded
• Ability to work collaboratively & effectively with cross-functional leaders and their teams
• Ability to travel and work flexible hours and days

Work Environment & Physical Demands
• Ability to stand, walk or be on your feet for extended periods of time, kneeling and bending may be required
• Regularly work indoors with no adverse conditions
• Must be able to occasionally lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance (weight limits can vary according to position, but no more than 50)
