Job Description
The Vice President of Retail Operations is responsible for the strategy, planning, direction, coordination, and oversight of all retail and rental activities and revenue generation, ensuring development and implementation of engaging consumer experiences and efficient operations and systems to meet current and future needs of Aspen Skiing Company. The role will direct and enhance the current retail experience in addition to growing and implementing industry best practices and driving change. This leader will have the highest level of business acumen and also possess exceptional people leadership and team development within a retail and rental environment.
The budgeted salary range for this position is $175,000-$225,000. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience, all our salaried roles are eligible for bonus.

Essential Job Functions/Key Job Responsibilities
- Establishes and implements the strategic vision and business goals of the retail/rental division.
- Collaborates with other executive leadership members to develop and execute a retail/rental business plan and recommended direction, while supplying expertise and guidance on industry trends.
- Develops a best-in-class consumer retail experience as the north star for the retail network
- Institute best-in-class merchandising capabilities to elevate the choice to the target consumer
- Identifies, recommends, and implements new policies, processes, and systems required to achieve the goals and execute upon the business plan.
- Develops and drives retail / rental revenue growth strategies across both on-and-off mountain outlets.
- Leverages all available data and analytics to document and influence client buying habits and client experience.
- Leads and develops a high-impact, cross-functional team by setting clear priorities and expectations, while fostering collaboration, motivating the team, and driving the culture of the division.
- Institutes analytics best practices and processes across operations, merchandising, buying, forecasting, supply chain & logistics.
- Develops multi-year plans for purchasing, inventory management, and warehouse processes.
- Focuses on the most efficient use of company resources—including putting together staffing plans and planning for new system implementations—in order to achieve the highest ROI.
- Understands opportunities for improvement across multiple lines of business and drives rental /retail efficiencies to improve P&L.
- Serves as head point of contact with finance and technology teams to implement capital and technology investments.

Qualifications
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred
- 10+ years’ experience in retail leadership, ideally within the recreation or outdoor industry
- Experience setting and communicating a clear strategy, leading profitable business, building a visionary brand and retail experience, top-tier merchandising experience, and managing a team of diverse talent
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proven track record of leading general retail or rental management strategies.
- Strong knowledge and perspective of global retail experience.
- Possesses and continues to build industry-relevant relationships and partnerships.
- Exceptional leadership skills and the ability to develop a team working cross-functionally across all levels.
- Strong analytical, financial, and business acumen including direct P&L oversight.
- Strong computer skills including Excel and retail POS systems.
- Ability to foster a collaborative environment and provide ongoing training to ensure high performance and professional growth
Additional Information
Work Environment & Physical Demands
• Ability to stand, type and sit at desk/computer for most of the work shift executing repetitive movements
• No adverse or hazardous conditions
• Not required, but preferred to be able to occasionally lift, push or pull 50 lbs. individually or with assistance
