Job Description

Summary

The Staff Accountant will maintain and control the General Ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization by applying the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

The budgeted compensation range for this position is $25.00 to $35.00 per hour. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience.

This position will be located in near our office locations in Basalt, CO or in Denver, CO.

Essential Job Functions

  • Works with Supervisor in overseeing their respective department accounts. 
  • Reconcile and resolves differences on various bank account and balance sheet accounts
  • Process and manages daily revenues
  • Provide accounting information to managers and others within the company; explaining accounting transactions; resolving accounting issues and discrepancies
  • Manage specific balance sheet accounts by monthly reconciliations, entries and reviews
  • Review monthly financial statements and investigate discrepancies and errors
  • Influence the business via written communication, specifically email
  • Inspect account books and accounting systems for efficiency, effectiveness, and use of accepted accounting procedures to record transactions
  • Assist with supervising auditing of establishments and determine scope of investigation required
  • Inspect cash on hand, notes receivable and payable, negotiable securities, and canceled checks to confirm records are accurate
  • Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, accounting or business focus preferred
  • 3-5 years previous accounting experience preferred
  • Strong working knowledge software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software including advanced skills in Excel required
  • Ability to understand macros preferred

Supervision Given and Received  

Supervision Given: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.  
Supervision Received: Works under general supervision of the Controller. Receives continuing or individual assignments according to supervisor’s directions and may perform routine tasks. Expectations of the quality, quantity and deadlines are clearly set. Instructions, advice and assistance available as needed. Work is reviewed on demand or during scheduled check-ins.  

Work Environment and Physical Demands 

  • Ability to stand, walk or be on your feet for extended periods of time. Kneeling and bending may be required.
  • Regularly work indoors with no adverse conditions. Some positions require exposure to outdoor elements or a combination of both indoors and outdoors and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 25 lbs. individually or with assistance
