Job Description

The ASPENX Lead Rental Technician will assist guest with the proper selection, fitting, renting and selling of a variety of winter sports equipment and accessories. Assists in numerous functions related to maintaining efficient and high-quality shop operations while providing five star, five diamond customer service.

Essential Job Functions•    Store and retrieve ski equipment for guests
•    Issue lift tickets to guests, and post tickets, lessons, tuning, and sundries’ charges to the guest rooms when applicable
•    Direct guest to specific areas of skiing on Aspen Mountain as well as Buttermilk/Tiehack, Snowmass Mountain and Aspen Highland Mountain
•    Responsible for booking lessons, experiences and other ski related activities
•    Greet guests and maintain a friendly and helpful attitude when dealing with guest needs
•    Assist in coffee bar as needed, making drinks and working in a food and beverage capacity
•    Provide fast, accurate and appropriate selection and fitting of a variety of winter sports equipment
•    Act independently to assure efficient, clean and organized shop/facilities operations at all times
•    Maintain a broad knowledge base adequate enough to answer all guest equipment-related queries as well as a variety of resort-wide information
•    Acquire and retain detailed Rental and Retail product knowledge to best serve guests and to help achieve departmental sales goals
•    Utilize great attention to detail in the completion of all tasks and in supporting daily shop operations
•    Tune skis and Snowboards to shop standards
•    Keep guest refreshment area replenished, clean and restocked for the next day
•    Provide guest with refreshments
•    Comply with required risk management and indemnification procedures
•    Assist with any problem that arise with ski equipment and maintain a good working relationship with the staff of the Ski Concierge, Concierge, the front door staff, and hotel staff in general, and staff of the Aspen Skiing Company
•    Other duties as assigned  

Additional Job Functions
•    Make Manager aware of guest’s comments and complaints
•    Report to work in a neatly groomed and acceptable manner as outlined in the employee handbook
•    Report to shift on time
•    Comply with all policies and procedures for the Rooms Division, The Little Nell, and Aspen Skiing Company
•    Is familiar with hotel fire and safety procedures. Assist in emergency and security procedures as directed by management
•    Complete tasks and projects delegated by your manager and assist other departments as business volumes and staff levels demand.

Qualifications

•    Previous rental shop experience preferred 
•    Previous customer service experience preferred
•    High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred 
•    Written and speaking fluency in English required
•    Bi-lingual language skills (Spanish, Portuguese, French or others) preferred
•    Must pass ski manufacturers' binding certification (on-the-job training provided)
•    Good knowledge of skiing, ski equipment and local areas
•    Excellent skiing ability.
•    Excellent knowledge of daily ski conditions.
•    Excellent knowledge of local retail outlets, products and services.
•    Ski and Snowboard tuning 
•    Binding certification from ski vendors.
•    Courteous and helpful manner needed.

Additional Information

Supervision given and received 
Given: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 
Received: Works under direct supervision of ASPENX General Manager. Tasks are assigned according to specific procedures, and work is checked frequently. Instruction, advice and assistance are readily available.

Work Environment and physical demands 
•    Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, bend or be on your feet for extended periods of time 
•    Regularly work indoors with no adverse conditions. Some positions require exposure to outdoor elements or a combination of both indoors and outdoors and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces 
•    Must be able to frequently lift, push or pull up to 25 lbs. individually or with assistance
