Job Description

The Mountain Sales Office Manager leads the management team and hourly staff to provide exemplary service and seamless sales experience of the Mountain Sales & Schools Department. This is an 8-month position which runs from September 1st through April 30th. This position could be based at Aspen Highlands or Buttermilk.

The budgeted salary range for this position is $60,000 - $75,000 annualized. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience, all of our salaried roles are eligible for bonus. 

Essential Job Functions 

  • Manage the winter operations for the Mountain Sales office.  Lead and manage the staff, adapting and adjusting to changing business levels and operational needs, delegating as appropriate 
  • Assist staff with challenging situations, addressing all guest complaints immediately and professionally, making timely and sound decisions even if information is incomplete. 
  • Manage the hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and payroll of winter office staff  
  • Provide continuous performance feedback to staff, offering coaching and completing documentation throughout the season including performance reviews 
  • Provide ongoing education for staff with regards to operating standards, product knowledge, up-selling techniques, customer service excellence, computer software, policies and events 
  •  Aid in the development of employees for succession planning 
  • Sell and promote lift access products, activity tickets, season passes, lessons, rentals and related products and services for Aspen Skiing Company. Book private lessons and other reservation products 
  • Create and maintain the office budget, tracking expenses and recording and explaining monthly variances 
  • Manage the purchasing, organization, distribution and display of office supplies and marketing collateral 
  • Develop relationships with key personnel inside and outside the department  
  • Generate ideas and alternate means of creating revenue, reducing expenses or improving guest services in department as well as other areas of the company 
  • Attends and participates in meetings as required 

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred 
  • 2 years of experience leading/managing a team required 
  • Money handling experience with US currency required  
  • Strong computer proficiency, including typing skills and the ability to navigate through multiple computer systems required 
  • Familiarity with Resort Technology Partners (RTP) software a plus 
  • Knowledge of Spanish or Portuguese preferred; knowledge of other languages helpful

Supervision Given & Received 

Supervision given: Exercises general supervision over supervisors, leads, and agents. Assigns a variety of routine tasks, sets general expectations of results expected within company’s policies and procedures. Responsibilities include but are not limited to interviewing, hiring, planning, budgeting, timekeeping, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding, motivating and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 

Supervision received: Works under general supervision of MS&S Operations Director. Receives continuing or individual assignments according to supervisor’s directions and may perform routine tasks. Expectations of the quality, quantity and deadlines are clearly set. Instructions, advice and assistance available as needed. Work is reviewed on demand or during scheduled check-ins.  

Work Environment & Physical Demands 

  • Ability to be on your feet, kneel and bend for extended periods of time  
  • Regularly work in adverse conditions and requiring the use of protective apparel/equipment to prevent exposure to the elements as well as an office environment and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces 
  • Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance
