Job Description
Ashburn Consulting is seeking a highly skilled Cloud Architect with a strong background in Full Stack Development, extensive AWS expertise, and a proven track record in transitioning monolithic application stacks to microservices architecture. The ideal candidate will lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of cloud-based solutions while optimizing performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into robust AWS architectural designs.
- Implement DevOps practices to automate deployment, monitoring, and management of cloud infrastructure and applications.
- Lead the application of Service Oriented Architecture principals to migrate monolithic application stacks to microservices architecture, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
- Conduct assessments, provide recommendations, and implement best practices for cost optimization, security, and performance tuning.
- Mentor and guide development teams in adopting best practices for cloud-native development and microservices architecture.
- Assesses school division technology environment, needs, and expertise to effectively partner with external technology environments.
- Establishes and maintains communication with business units and third-party vendors to monitor changing information technology environments.
- Conceptualizes, defines, develops, tests, and deploys needed enterprise technology solutions, products, and services that may be marketed.
- Collaborates with IT security and audit to enforce strict cross-platform security and audit controls.
- Partners with other IT functions to evaluate, prioritize, and resolve new issues and problem scenarios.
- Creates, updates, and maintains strategic technology plans.
- Captures, qualifies, and quantifies internal ideas, expertise, and initiatives.
- Builds business and financial models for major new technology initiatives.
- Refines models into implementable business plans.
- Makes business plans operational.
- Identifies and establishes potential business resources and partners and matches qualified partners with school division partners, expertise, and initiatives.
- Manages complex technology projects across organizations.
- Crafts acceptable policies and procedures.
- Evaluates the success of technology initiatives and business partnering.
- Creates and delivers presentations.
Qualifications
- Six (6) years of progressively more responsible experience related to creating and managing new or emerging technology solutions, products, and services, two (2) years of which shall have required independent judgment, and some of which shall include AWS administration.
- Extensive experience as a Full Stack Developer with proficiency in multiple programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, Node.js, etc.).
- Proven expertise in designing and implementing cloud solutions on AWS (certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect are a plus).
- Strong understanding of Service Oriented architecture, containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and serverless technologies.
- In-depth knowledge of Cl/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (laC), and configuration management tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
- AWS Solutions Architect Certification
- AWS Security Specialty Certification
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in information technology, instructional technology, marketing, or business management.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Familiarity with other cloud platforms (Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
- Knowledge of database technologies (SQL, NoSQL) and data migration strategies in a cloud environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Experience in transforming monolithic applications into microservices-based architectures with a focus on scalability and performance optimization.
