Job Description

Shift: Day Shift

The Senior Systems Engineer will be part of a remote team responsible for building and maintaining Arch's IT infrastructure as we move from private data centers to the hybrid cloud.  The workload will primarily be initiative based with some operational tasks.  The engineer will report to the Agile Delivery Manager (ADM) and work in two-week sprints related to multiple initiatives.  The position is home-based and reports to the Raleigh, NC office on occasion.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain systems infrastructure in the private data center and public cloud.
  • Responsible for management of block and file storage arrays and SAN systems.
  • Implementation and management of backup systems.
  • Responsible for compute platform in multiple data centers.
  • Automation of system processes, day-to-day tasks, and customer requests.
  • Create and maintain processes and procedure documentation.
  • Patch storage and compute systems for stability and increased security.
  • Plan and refine technical initiatives.
  • Manage disaster recovery for storage and compute and perform periodic readiness testing.
  • Coordinate with vendors to maintain contracts and stay up to date with latest technologies.
  • On-call rotation to resolve complex production issues involving compute, storage, or cloud infrastructure.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of major public cloud such as Azure and/or AWS.
  • Strong experience with EMC XtremIO, NetApp FAS/AFF/CVO, IBM Storwize, MDS and Brocade SAN.
  • Experience with scripting/automating processes using Ansible, bash, Perl, PowerShell, or similar tool.
  • Experience with compute infrastructure such as Cisco UCS, HPE ProLiant, Dell PowerEdge, etc.
  • Managed virtualization platforms VMware ESXi and/or Nutanix AHV.
  • Administration of Rubrik, Cohesity, NetBackup or similar backup system.
  • Ability to produce consistent results with minimal guidance in a home-based position.


Desired Skills:

  • Infrastructure as Code/Terraform.
  • DevOps, GitHub/GitHub Actions.
  • Cisco UCS.
  • Kubernetes (OpenShift, AKS, EKS).
  • Citrix NetScaler ADC/Gateway.
  • UNIX/Linux and/or Windows Server.
  • IBM pSeries, iSeries, VIOS.

Additional Information

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related experience.
  • EMC, NetApp, Azure, AWS certifications a plus.
