Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Weekend Kitchen Porter to join our team in Galway, Ireland. As a Kitchen Porter, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and efficiency of our kitchen operations. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment while developing your skills in food service support.

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen, including washing dishes, utensils, and cookware using commercial dishwashing equipment
  • Organize and store kitchen equipment, ingredients, and supplies in designated areas according to established protocols
  • Assist with food preparation tasks, including peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients as directed by kitchen staff
  • Remove and dispose of waste and recyclable materials in compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Perform general kitchen cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing work surfaces and equipment
  • Support kitchen staff by restocking supplies and ensuring all necessary items are readily available
  • Maintain awareness of food safety and hygiene standards at all times
  • Work efficiently during peak service times to support the overall kitchen operation
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance issues to management promptly
  • Follow all health, safety, and food handling procedures established by the organization

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Kitchen Porter or in a similar hospitality support role (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment
  • Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness standards
  • Strong teamwork and communication abilities
  • Reliability and punctuality, particularly for weekend shifts
  • Willingness to follow instructions and adapt to changing priorities
  • Basic knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment and cleaning procedures (preferred)
