Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Technical Sales Manager – Characterization to join our team based in Abu Dhabi.
In this role, you will lead Anton Paar's Business Unit Characterization across the UAE, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar, supporting customers with market-leading solutions in Material Characterization, Mechanical Surface Characterization, Particle Analysis & Surface Charge, Rheometry, Surface Area & Pores, Texture Analysis and Extrusion, Thermal Analysis, and Automation & Robotics.
This is a hands-on customer-facing role combining technical sales, business development, application support and instrument installation. Unlike many traditional sales roles, you will remain actively involved throughout the customer journey – from understanding customer requirements and recommending the most appropriate Anton Paar solutions to conducting product demonstrations, performing instrument installations across the majority of the Characterization portfolio, delivering customer application training, and supporting the successful implementation of Anton Paar solutions.
Working closely with fellow Technical Sales Managers, Application Specialists, Service Engineers and colleagues across the Anton Paar Group, you will contribute to the continued growth of Anton Paar across the UAE, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop the UAE-based Business Unit Characterization sales team.
- Develop new business opportunities and strengthen long-term customer relationships across the UAE, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar.
- Manage the complete customer journey from opportunity identification through technical consultation, quotation, negotiation, instrument installation and successful project handover.
- Conduct customer visits, technical presentations, product demonstrations and commercial discussions.
- Perform instrument installations, deliver customer application training and support the successful implementation of Anton Paar solutions, working closely with the Service team where required.
- Prepare quotations, technical proposals and tender submissions in accordance with Anton Paar standards.
- Collaborate closely with fellow Technical Sales Managers, Application Specialists, Service Engineers and Anton Paar headquarters to deliver integrated technical and commercial solutions.
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts, opportunity pipelines and customer records.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities and customer requirements, providing regular commercial feedback to management.
- Represent Anton Paar at exhibitions, conferences, seminars, workshops and customer events.
- Travel regularly throughout the UAE, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar.
Qualifications
Your Profile
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering or another relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in technical sales of laboratory, analytical or scientific instrumentation.
- Previous experience within the GCC market is highly advantageous.
- Demonstrated experience leading, coaching or mentoring a technical sales team.
- Proven success in business development, key account management and achieving sales objectives.
- Experience conducting technical presentations, product demonstrations and consultative technical sales.
- Strong consultative selling, negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to develop long-term customer relationships and manage multiple opportunities across several territories.
- Fluency in both Arabic and English (spoken, written and reading) is essential.
- Valid UAE driver's license, or the ability to obtain one.
- Willingness to travel regularly throughout the UAE, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar.
