Grosvenor Mine – an underground steelmaking coal mine produced its first longwall coal in May 2016 and is located in Moranbah, about 190 km south-west of Mackay.

We are building the team to deliver the next chapter of Grosvenor Mine. With a planned return to longwall production by Q4 2027, this is a unique opportunity to contribute to a major mine restart and help shape the future of underground mining.

Working alongside experienced professionals, you will play a role in implementing leading-edge technology, automation, monitoring systems and operational improvements that will define how the mine operates for years to come.

Job Description

Grosvenor Mine is seeking an experienced Shift Engineer (electrical) to support the engineering and maintenance team on-site. Reporting into the Engineering Superintendent, you will primarily be involved in the coordination of planned and unplanned maintenance activities, to ensure shift safety and production targets are delivered.

You will be accountable to provide effective technical support, shift management, shift reporting, work quality management, escalation & response, and supervision of trades personnel to optimize our assets and deliver the mine plan.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Monitor performance against the plan and lead the trade supervisors to identify maintenance and engineering risks to delivering the mine plan.
  • Commit to the quality of engineering services delivered and deliver fit-for-purpose equipment to bridge the gap between theoretical/design and practicality at the face.
  • Identify improvements and/or corrective activities that will reduce the operating costs.
  • Maintain & monitor performance of maintenance activities with short interval control (SIC).
  • Issue work orders to trades personnel and receive completed work orders and shift reports, following that, review and raise actions for any priority works.
  • Audit quality of trades workmanship and completion of maintenance work orders.
  • Respond to unplanned variance and breakdowns on shifts.
  • Conduct preliminary RCAs on breakdowns.

Support departments to achieve business plan through engagement and continual process improvement

Qualifications

To be successful in the role you will have to have the following:

  • Valid QLD Electrical License
  • Hold the supervisor qualifications (S1, S2, S3) & G2
  • Previous experience in a mining maintenance role (preferably Coal) or heavy industry
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team of professionals to deliver against set targets
  • Experience in driving best practice through your department and into the business
  • Track record in driving continuous improvement
