Grosvenor Mine – an underground steelmaking coal mine produced its first longwall coal in May 2016 and is located in Moranbah, about 190 km south-west of Mackay.
We are building the team to deliver the next chapter of Grosvenor Mine. With a planned return to longwall production by Q4 2027, this is a unique opportunity to contribute to a major mine restart and help shape the future of underground mining.
Working alongside experienced professionals, you will play a role in implementing leading-edge technology, automation, monitoring systems and operational improvements that will define how the mine operates for years to come.

Grosvenor Mine
We have an exciting opportunity at Grosvenor Mine, based in Moranbah to join a technology focused operation with a keen eye for improvement and overall drive for high-quality learning development.
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, you will be responsible for managing all operational training, capability, and learning technology activities onsite, to ensure continued compliance with the Mine Training & Competency Scheme, industry standards, and the wider Anglo American standards. Prior experience in heavy industry not essential, however a proven track record in learning and development is key to the success of this role.
Your role is to manage the overall process for identifying competency requirements, implementing technology advancements, overseeing the design of learning materials and developing best practice within the training team at our Grosvenor Mine, based in Moranbah.
The accountabilities and responsibilities for this role include:
- Managing the Training Department, your role will be pivotal in leading a team of training professionals to ensure our training programs and processes meet the required industry standards and improvement initiatives.
- Utilising our learning management systems (SuccessFactors & Kando) and content authoring tools (Rise 360) to design/modify or oversee the creation of complaint and future proofed learning content.
- The application of the Mine Training & Competency Scheme, including ongoing improvements, reviews, audits, evaluation, compliance, and system health checks.
- Developing and monitoring the dynamic Skills Needs Analysis for both compliance and professional development opportunities across the operation.
- Approving and validating external training providers and manage key relationships with RTO’s and other external bodies, and in addition you will provide key solutions and recommendations to the HR Manager regarding site related training matters.
Qualifications
The key attributes contributing to your success in this role will include;
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40122 or current equivalent).
- Previous experience managing key components of a Training/Learning and Development function within a larger scale business operation.
- Communication is vital, your strong interpersonal and negotiation skills should complement a high degree of planning and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with the use of Learning Management Systems (similar to SuccessFactors and Kando) and content authoring tools (similar to Articulate Rise 360).
- Managing and delivering site-based training requirements or programs.

- Monday to Friday staff roster (9-day fortnight available)
