We have an exciting opportunity for Operations Operator Gr2 (Construction). The purpose of this role is to operate mobile equipment during the construction and maintenance of mining production infrastructure, such as haul roads and signage installation, according to instructions from the Supervisor and Operations Controller while complying with health and safety rules and procedures.

Job Description
As our Operator Gr2 (Construction) your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Safety, Health, and Environment
- Demonstrates behaviour in line with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Work collaboratively with supervisor, peers, and relevant others to achieve operational goals.
- Use and maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) according to safety regulations.
- Follow SHE standards and specific legislation related to vehicle control.
- Adhere, read, and sign all appropriate work instructions and standards.
- Attend Safety meetings with the supervisor and team and ensure adherence to all safety protocols.
- Effectively identify hazards and safety deviations in the area of responsibility.
- Apply SLAM/HIRA/Mini HIRA correctly and report any safety or health-related issues.
- Take all necessary safety precautions when working on auxiliary equipment.
- Active participation in SLAMs, HPHs, relevant Risk Assessments and close-out of Safety Actions.
Pre-shift Inspection:
- Inspect equipment at the start of a shift for safety deviations according to a standard Inspection checklist.
- Record the outcomes of each inspection on the standard Inspection sheet and report any deviations to the Foreman and Operations Controller.
Vehicle Operation:
- Operate the equipment safely and efficiently to complete the task the Foreman and/or Operations Controller allocates.
- Ensure that work areas are safe for equipment operation and report any unsafe conditions to the Supervisor and/or the Operations Controller.
Vehicle Maintenance:
- Identify any maintenance problems while operating the equipment and report such problems promptly and accurately to the Supervisor and/or Operations Controller.
Communication:
- Communicate any problems experienced and risks identified during a shift with other operators promptly and accurately to maximise shift efficiency and protect the safety of different operators.
Assistance:
- Assist team members and supervisors as and when required and within own area of competence to achieve team objectives. This may include operating any other mobile equipment for which the Operator has an operating licence if needed.
- Provide information during shift handovers if needed to ensure the synchronised functionality of operations.
- Perform cleaning activities beyond the allocated area.
This role is in the Mining (MIN) department on a band P6 level reporting to the Supervisor Projects & Construction.
Qualifications
- Grade 12/N3 Technical
- Kumba Dover Certificate
- Fitness Certificate
- Relevant HME Licences
- Competency A (advantageous)
- SA Drivers Licence
Technical Knowledge
- Entry-level role requiring practical experience through internships or relevant work, along with applicable licenses or certifications.
- Comprehensive understanding of equipment operational systems, including collision prevention and fire suppression systems.
- Familiarity with the functionality of relevant tools and equipment components.
- Awareness of mine traffic regulations.
- Proficiency in radio communication, loading procedures, lock-out protocols, and pre-shift inspection processes.
- Knowledge of safety standards.
- Familiarity with company policies and procedures.
