We have an exciting position for an Operator Shift Control Room who will ensure the safety and security of mine premises by monitoring CCTV cameras, computerised burglar and fire alarm systems, and guard patrol monitoring systems, initiating the appropriate responses to suspicious activities and alarm activations.

Our activities include all aspects – exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.
Job Description
As an Operator Shift Control Room you will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Monitor CCTV cameras and initiate appropriate response to suspicious activities.
- Monitor computerised burglar and fire alarm systems and initiate appropriate responses to alarm activations.
- Monitor guard patrol monitoring systems and alert shift supervisors on any deviations.
- Update the computer-based incident logging system and generate the reports.
- Operate the 24/7 emergency number and initiate appropriate response to emergencies.
- Operate remote-controlled gate control systems.
- Operate all radio communication systems.
- Perform administration duties relating to a control room environment.
- Send an SMS to SLT or RLT in case of an emergency or incidents in the mine.
- Capture all incidents and dockets online for record purposes.
This role is in the Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) discipline at a Band S4 level (C1/C2 Grade) reporting to the Security Operations Supervisor.
Qualifications
- Grade 12/ N3
- Completion of a formal Control Room Operators course.
- Registered as a Security Officer Grade B with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority.
- Advanced CCTV Surveillance Body Language is preferred
- Valid SA Drivers Licence
Experience
- 2-3 years of relevant experience in safety/security in a control room setup, preferably in a mining environment.
- Practical experience in computerised access control, burglar alarm, incident logging, CCTV, and guard monitoring systems.
- Knowledge of incident logging, CCTV, and guard monitoring systems.
