Anglo American Steelmaking Coal Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world.  In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced end-to-end Payroll professional to join our Payroll team at our Brisbane Corporate office, working in a hybrid environment. 

Reporting to the People Services Manager, the Payroll Administrator is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for both mine site based and corporate employees.  This role plays a key part in ensuring compliance with Australian employment legislation, enterprise agreements, and company policies, while utilising SAP to manage payroll data efficiently and securely.

  • Administer end-to-end payroll processing for both weekly and monthly pay cycles
  • Accurately validate and process timesheets, allowances, overtime and leave entitlements
  • Ensure correct payroll deductions including tax, superannuation and employee benefits
  • Respond to and resolve payroll related queries from employees and managers in a timely manner
  • Collaborate closely with HR and Finance teams to ensure data accuracy and alignment
  • Prepare statutory reports including PAYG, STP, and superannuation submissions
  • Maintain and update payroll data in SAP HR/Payroll and interface with SuccessFactors
  • Ensure payroll practices comply with Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards (NES) and relevant awards
  • Support internal and external audits with payroll documentation

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in payroll administration, preferably in mining or heavy industry
  • Proficiency in SAP Payroll and SuccessFactors is highly desirable
  • Good understanding of Australian payroll legislation and enterprise agreements
  • High attention to detail, good communication and problem-solving skills
