Job Description
Job Purpose:
The BRCAAS Project Assistant will provide programmatic, technical, and operational support to the implementation of the “Building Regional Capacity Amidst Aid Shifts: Technical Assistance” project. The role will support coordination, facilitation, documentation, and follow-up of project activities across the target regions.
Working under the guidance of the Project Coordinator, the Assistant will play a key role in ensuring smooth day-to-day implementation, effective stakeholder engagement, and timely delivery of project outputs, particularly in supporting regional-level activities related to health financing and system strengthening.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Project Coordination & Implementation Support
- Support day-to-day coordination of project activities across regions, ensuring timely implementation of planned interventions.
- Assist in tracking implementation progress against work plans and flag delays or challenges to the Project Coordinator.
- Support organization and facilitation of meetings, workshops, trainings, and review forums at national and regional levels.
- Coordinate logistics for project events, including scheduling, communication, and documentation.
- Maintain regular communication with Regional Bureaus of Health and Finance to support activity follow-up.
- Assist in collecting, compiling, and organizing project data for monitoring and reporting purposes.
- Support preparation of routine progress reports, presentations, and briefs.
- Document meeting minutes, action points, lessons learned, and best practices.
- Provide support to implementation of health financing and system strengthening interventions at regional level.
- Assist in compiling technical inputs, background materials, and evidence for program activities.
- Support knowledge management and dissemination of project outputs.
Operational & Administrative Support
- Support financial and administrative processes related to project implementation (e.g., activity budgets, liquidation follow-ups, procurement coordination).
- Ensure proper documentation and filing of project records in line with Amref procedures.
- Assist in coordinating travel and field visits for project staff and partners.
Other Responsibilities
Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
Academic and Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Economics, Health Services Management, Business Administration, or related field.
Required Competencies and Skills
- Good understanding of health systems strengthening and/or public health programs.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic skills in data management, documentation, and report writing.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in project implementation, coordination, or support roles in NGOs or government settings.
- Experience working with Regional Health Bureaus or similar stakeholders is an asset.
- Experience supporting trainings, workshops, and stakeholder coordination.
- Exposure to donor-funded projects and reporting requirements is desirable.
