Job Description
1. Position Summary
The Strategy & Communications Intern will support Amref Health Africa in Ethiopia’s strategic priority initiatives and organizational transformation initiatives. The intern will contribute through research, analysis, documentation, the development and implementation of strategic initiatives.
This role is designed for a motivated individual who is eager to build practical experience in strategy development, organizational transformation processes, innovation support, and strategic communications within a leading African health organization. The intern will work closely with internal teams and contribute to high-quality outputs that strengthen alignment, learning, and collaboration across the organization.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Strategy & Transformation Support
- Conduct research and analysis on organizational development, sector trends, and systems-related issues relevant to Amref Health Africa in Ethiopia’s priorities.
- Support the development of strategic documents, internal briefs, concept notes, and presentations.
- Assist transformation initiatives by tracking progress, preparing summaries, and supporting coordination activities across teams.
- Conduct research to inform the design, refinement, and testing of pilot initiatives aligned with organizational goals.
C. Strategic Communications Support
- Support strategic communications work aligned with organizational priorities and key initiatives.
- Assist in drafting and editing strategy-linked communication materials as needed to support internal and external engagement.
- Contribute to ensuring that communication outputs are clear, consistent, and aligned with organizational messaging.
3. Learning Objectives & Development Opportunities
This internship offers a strong learning opportunity for a candidate seeking applied experience in institutional strategy and organizational development work. The intern will benefit from:
- Practical exposure to strategy development and execution processes within a large health organization.
- Experience supporting organizational transformation initiatives, including coordination, documentation, and analysis.

- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Public Health, Communications, Public Policy, Business, International Development, or a related field.
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize information into clear and practical outputs.
- Ability to prepare well-organized and visually appealing documents, briefs, and presentations.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong interest in strategy, organizational transformation, innovation, and development work.
