Job Description
ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
Uzazi Salama is a 3-year programme funded by Mpesa Foundation in Kilifi and Narok counties in Kenya. The programme seeks to reduce maternal, neonatal, and child morbidities and mortalities in Narok and Kilifi Counties by 2027. The programme focusses on increasing demand and utilization of quality RMNCAH high-impact interventions, increasing availability and delivery of high-impact quality RMNCAH services., strengthening county health systems for delivery of quality RMNCAH high-impact interventions, and generating for improved programming and decision making to promote scale-up and equity. The programme will support the two county governments toward sustainability in quality and systems of health services.
JOB SUMMARY
The Project Associate - Community Engagement will provide technical support in the implementation of demand creation activities in collaboration with the technical officers. The job holder will be based in Kilifi County and will provide hands on technical support to County Health Management Team (CHMT) and other actors to increase utilization of RMNCAH services in Kilifi county.
RESPONSIBILITIES;
1. Technical Support and Project Implementation
- Organize targeted community mobilization and awareness sessions to ensure uptake of RMNCAH services and ensure targets are met in the targeted facilities.
- Engage community members, adolescents and youths and ensure their RMNCAH service delivery gaps/challenges are identified and addressed to increase uptake.
- Support CHVs to organize community dialogue sessions with local leaders, cultural leaders, TBAs youth to address barriers to RMNCAH services uptake.
- Organize media and radio programmes to discuss issues of RMNCAH and promote RMNCAH services uptake
- Work with identified youth champions to promote RMNCAH services uptake among the youth using peer led approaches.
- Support in the identification and segmentation of community groups for targeted behavior change interventions.
- Participate in RMNCAH related stakeholders’ meetings, including TWGs and Task force meetings
- Collaborate with other demand creation agents including TBAs, religious leaders and community champions to promote demand for RMNCAH services.
- Organize and facilitate trainings for various community groups to facilitate demand for products and make the products accessible to the consumers in Kilifi County especially the poor
2. Capacity Building
- Support capacity building of CHVs, TBAs, Community Champions and other demand creation agents on effective Social mobilization for increased uptake of RMNCAH Services.
3. Monitoring and Evaluation Documentation
- Support in monitoring and evaluation of project activities to ensure quality and compliance to standards.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports relating to the project.
- Support in preparation of annual work plans and progress reports as per donor requirements.
- Support in documentation and dissemination of best practices and lessons learnt.
4. Partnership and Networking
- Liaise with relevant partners, stakeholders and collaborators to facilitate activities at community level.
- Maintain a good working relationship between Amref, ministry of health and other partners/stakeholders
5. Admin and financial management
- Support in day to day management of activity budgets including processing field imprests and other financial transactions.
- Ensure timely accounting for the use of project resources by stakeholders and communities in liaison with finance teams.
6. Program Development
- Participate in writing of new concepts and proposals for fundraising.
Qualifications
Education and knowledge:
- Bachelor’s Degree in public health, community health, sociology or any other relevant field
Experience:
- At least 3 years’ the implementation of public health, community development programmes or behavior change programmes at community level in coastal Region.
- Experience in demand creation activities for RMNCAH programmes is desirable.
