About the role
At Ampol, our Trading & Shipping Graduate Program gives you the opportunity to launch your career in a fast-paced, collaborative environment at the heart of the energy transition. Over three years, you’ll complete meaningful rotations that build technical expertise, commercial insight, and leadership skills—equipping you to make a real impact across our global trading business.

Key responsibilities
The structure of the 3-year program consists of up to 6 rotations around key business areas within Commercial Risk.
Business areas you could be exposed too:
- Commercial Analytics: Maintain and develop analytical models in forecasting country balances through tracking supply and demand fundamentals data and ship-tracking to deliver insights into trading opportunities.
- Trading Analytics: Support the physical trading desk in ensuring that all trading activity is correctly captured in source systems and properly represented in exposure and P&L reporting, to enable future decision making.
- Operations: Support the physical trading desk in executing physical contracts, managing all operational aspects associated with physical cargoes from load to discharge.
- Chartering: Understand the dynamics of freight through supporting the charterers in freight negotiations with counterparties, drafting of charter party contracts and meetings with brokers, ship owners and charterers.
- Middle Office: Independent validation and reporting of exposure and P&L of the trading desks and monitoring limits utilization.
- Business Development & Origination: Support the identification and evaluation of new commercial opportunities, partnerships, and market entry strategies.
- Data & Analysis: Build and manage tools and insights to support trading and commercial decisions.
At the end of the program, the Ampol Graduate’s role placement will be reviewed taking into consideration the individual’s preferences, performance and availability of roles in the business.
Program Eligibility:
To be eligible for the T&S Graduate Programme you should:
- Currently be studying a bachelor’s degree in any discipline ranging from Business, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Arts to STEM
- Be in your final year of study and graduating between December 2025 and July 2026
- Hold Singapore work rights
About you:
We are looking for individuals who showcase strong commercial and financial acumen, have excellent communication skills, both written and oral and enjoy working in a team environment.
You will have excellent academic results, be curious to learn and eager to develop your professional career.
You must be available to commence full-time employment in January OR July 2026. You will have a keen interest in starting a career in the Oil Trading & Shipping business and thrive in a fast paced and ever-changing environment.

The recruitment process for our graduates is as follows:
- Submit your application: What to include? Personal details, CV, Transcripts, and right-to-work evidence.
- Complete a video interview: Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a digital interview and psychometric testing. A fair and equitable review of your skills, background, and motivations will take place by the Recruitment Team.
- Shortlisted applicants will attend an assessment session - What to expect? A chance for you to bring your best self and hear from us, you will undertake an assessment centre over two days in late November.
- Offers: Formal offers and pre-employment checks are undertaken.
- Commence Graduate program in January OR July 2026: Ampol’s Singapore grad program goes for three years and involves up to six rotations.
