To support our growth across the Southeast Asia region, we are looking for a commercially driven and relationship-focused Business Development Manager to join our Southeast Asia Sales team, based in Singapore. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Sales professional who thrives on identifying new commercial opportunities, building strategic partnerships and delivering sustainable revenue growth.

Working closely with the Senior Sales Manager, you will play a key role in executing Air New Zealand's sales strategy across Southeast Asia, strengthening existing relationships while developing new business opportunities that grow market share and profitability. We're looking for someone who is naturally curious, proactive and results driven, with strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking.

The successful candidate will be confident challenging the status quo, identifying new opportunities and enjoy working collaboratively across internal and external stakeholders, and be passionate about building long-term partnerships that deliver mutual success.

What you’ll be doing

  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans to achieve revenue, profitability and market share targets across Southeast Asia.
  • Identify, develop and secure new commercial partnerships and sales opportunities while growing existing business relationships.
  • Manage and optimise key trade and commercial accounts through strong relationship management, commercial negotiation and performance planning.
  • Analyse sales performance, market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities and implement initiatives that drive business growth.
  • Negotiate and manage commercial agreements that deliver strong revenue outcomes while maintaining effective cost management.
  • Partner with internal Commercial and Marketing teams to develop innovative sales propositions, incentive programmes and joint marketing initiatives that generate incremental sales.
  • Manage regional distribution channels to improve profitability and reduce cost of sale.
  • Support product training, trade engagement activities and industry events to strengthen Air New Zealand's profile within the travel trade community.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and commercial support to Sales team members and General Sales Agent (GSA) partners, fostering collaboration and high performance across the region.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Proven experience in business development, sales or account management, ideally within the airline, travel or tourism industry.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering revenue growth and building strategic partnerships.
  • Excellent relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Strong ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment while managing multiple priorities. 
  • A strategic and analytical mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities and translate insights into action.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively across cultures.
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • This role is based in Singapore and will involve travel throughout the Southeast Asia region.
