We’re looking for an Assistant Chief Engineer to join our team at The Hoxton, Poblenou! 

The Hoxton Poblenou in the city of Barcelona is our 11th Hoxton. The hotel boasts 240 bedrooms of different sizes, a large restaurant Four Corners with The Slice shop and La Bodega, a rooftop pool and our taqueria Tope, a bright and airy lobby, a multi-functional basement events space and The Apartment (our unique meetings & events concept).

Reporting to our Chief Engineer, you will be responsible to support the management of our day to day housekeeping, maintenance and front office operations for 5-6 months from November 2026.

What you’ll do… 

• Assist the Chief Engineer in managing the overall maintenance and operation of the hotel's facilities, equipment and technical systems, ensuring the highest standards are maintained. 
• Supervise, coordinate and support the Engineering team, allocating daily tasks, monitoring performance and ensuring all maintenance activities are completed efficiently and on time. 
• Ensure the effective implementation and follow-up of the Preventive Planned Maintenance (PPM) programme, conducting regular inspections and ensuring timely corrective actions. 
• Monitor maintenance costs, budgets, stock levels and purchasing, ensuring efficient use of resources and compliance with budget guidelines. 
• Coordinate and supervise external contractors and suppliers, ensuring all works are carried out safely, efficiently and in accordance with hotel standards. 
• Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety and Fire Safety regulations, including risk assessments, safety inspections and scheduled testing of fire protection equipment. 
• Oversee and carry out maintenance and repair works across the hotel, including plumbing, electrical systems, lighting, furniture and general building maintenance. 
• Ensure all maintenance requests, equipment records, technical documentation and inventory controls are accurately maintained and regularly updated. 
• Proactively identify maintenance issues, operational improvements and opportunities to enhance the efficiency, safety and condition of hotel facilities. 
• Support the Chief Engineer in the day-to-day management of the Engineering Department, deputising when required and covering Shift Engineer duties as necessary.
