Company Description
The Hoxton, Charlottenburg (Berlin) – Floor Manager (m/f/d)
We’re looking for a Floor Manager to bring good energy, confident leadership and a genuine love of hosting to The Hoxton, Charlottenburg. You’ll lead from the floor, help your team shine and make Charlotte’s a place our neighbours and hotel guests want to come back to.
Our first Hoxton in Germany opened in Berlin in May 2023 and is home to 234 bedrooms, welcoming public spaces and The Apartment, our meeting and events space on the 7th floor. At Charlotte’s, our lobby bar and dining space, familiar food with a Berlin and German accent meets good coffee, wine, cocktails and a relaxed neighbourhood feel.
Reporting to the Restaurant & Bar Manager, you’ll take charge of day-to-day floor operations at Charlotte’s, including the Lobby, and support breakfast, and occasionally meetings and events as required. You’ll bring the team, service and commercial details together, so every shift feels well run and every guest feels looked after.
More about us...
The Hoxton is a series of open-house hotels, each in a neighborhood that we love. Ever since we opened our first hotel in Shoreditch, we’ve never just been about offering a bed for the night. We want to be more than that: proving style doesn’t need to be sacrificed for good value and providing a place where guests can hang out alongside the locals and submerse themselves in the neighborhood with vibrant, welcoming public spaces.
Job Description
What you’ll do…
- Lead from the front and set the vibe. Be out on the floor, lead by example and create a warm, relaxed atmosphere where regulars feel at home and first-timers feel like they've been coming for years. Keep things running smoothly, even when the place is buzzing.
- Bring Charlotte's to life, all day long. From the first morning coffee and breakfast to leisurely lunches, aperitivo, dinner and that one last drink – make every moment feel welcoming, effortless and unmistakably Hox.
- Teamwork makes the dream work. At The Hoxton, there's no "I" in TEAM. Have each other's backs, jump in wherever needed and make sure every service runs like a well-oiled machine.
- Keep things running behind the scenes. Take ownership of daily closing procedures, support the management team with weekly and monthly tasks, and don't be afraid to bring fresh ideas to the table. We love people who think outside the box!
- Look after your people. Coach, inspire and develop your team, help new starters find their feet and share honest, constructive feedback along the way. Celebrate strengths, spot opportunities for growth and make sure everyone feels confident delivering the Hoxton experience while keeping our standards and SOPs on point.
- Make every event one to remember. Support private events at Charlotte's and help bring our Apartment meetings and events to life, making sure everything runs smoothly from start to finish.
- Set your team up for success. Lead engaging daily briefings, keeping everyone in the loop on bookings, events, menu updates, dietary requirements and daily priorities. A great shift starts with a great briefing!
- Work together, always. Partner closely with the Restaurant Manager, Head Bartender and Culinary Head Chef to keep food and drinks flowing, share ideas and feedback, and build the team's knowledge through tastings and training.
- Know your stuff. From Charlotte's favourites and sharing plates to wines, cocktails and the perfect flat white – know the menu inside out and help guests discover their next favourite thing with genuine, personal recommendations.
- It's all in the details. Keep opening and closing routines, cleanliness and daily duties on track. Take pride in how our spaces look and feel, stay on top of maintenance issues and make sure every corner is looking its best.
- Communication is key. You're confident communicating in English and have a good understanding of German, making it easy to connect with guests and colleagues alike.
Qualifications
What we are looking for…
- Experience as a Floor Manager, Restaurant Supervisor or Assistant Restaurant Manager in a busy restaurant, hotel bar or lifestyle hotel, with the confidence to lead a shift.
- A natural host who enjoys being with guests and can balance a relaxed atmosphere with attentive, well-organised service.
- Hands-on leadership skills: you can, run a briefing, coach a colleague and bring a team together on a busy night.
- A good understanding of food, wine, cocktails and coffee, and the curiosity to keep learning and share what you know.
- Confidence with POS systems, cash controls, stock counts and daily reporting, plus a practical understanding of sales and labour costs.
- Clear communication, so you can connect with our guests, neighbours and international team.
- Sound judgement with guest complaints and team challenges. You stay calm, take ownership and know when to ask for support.
- An understanding of food safety, allergens, responsible alcohol service and safe working practices.
- Flexibility to work early and late shifts, weekends and public holidays, and to support the wider F&B operation when needed.
- You’re looking for a place where you can be you. Personality, warmth and good ideas are welcome here.
- You’re not precious. We leave our egos at the door and help get things done.
- You’re up for trying new things and want to be part of a team that works hard, supports each other and has fun along the way.
