Job Description
We are seeking an commercially focused Assistant Financial Controller to support the financial operations of our hotel. This role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the finance team, maintaining strong financial controls, ensuring compliance with Hotel policies, supporting departmental profitability, and assisting in the overall financial management of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide financial support and guidance to Department Heads to identify and implement cost-effective initiatives that improve profitability.
- Oversee accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and audit/compliance processes.
- Maintain accurate ledgers and authorise payments alongside the Financial Controller and General Manager.
- Ensure cash handling procedures, internal controls, and finance policies are adhered to at all times.
- Work closely with the Front Office team to ensure revenue transactions are accurately recorded and night audit procedures are followed.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, budgeting, forecasting, reconciliations, cash flow management, and internal controls.
- Knowledge of PAYG, GST, Payroll Tax, Workers Compensation, BAS, Accounts Payable and Superannuation.
- Experience with accounting systems; Opera Cloud, Zambion Ready Workforce, Purchase Plus, Micros Symphony, and Sun Cloud advantageous.
- Previous hotel or hospitality finance experience.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive approach to improving processes and driving business performance.
