Seasonal Bartender – Notch8
Help us Make Special Happen this festive season at Notch8.
As a Seasonal Bartender, you’ll join the Notch8 team during one of the most vibrant times of the year. Combining genuine hospitality with beverage knowledge and craftsmanship, you’ll create memorable experiences for our guests through expertly prepared cocktails, thoughtful recommendations and warm, engaging service.
From festive celebrations to a relaxed drink at the bar, you’ll help bring the Notch8 experience, and the spirit of Fairmont—to life.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Deliver warm, engaging and professional service, ensuring every guest feels genuinely welcomed and valued
- Prepare cocktails, mixed beverages and other drinks consistently and according to established recipes and presentation standards
- Maintain thorough knowledge of beverage offerings, including spirits, wine, beer, cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages and seasonal features
- Engage with guests and provide knowledgeable recommendations based on their preferences
- Maintain knowledge of food menus and confidently recommend appropriate beverage pairings
- Accurately communicate allergies and dietary requirements to Culinary and fellow service colleagues
- Handle guest concerns thoughtfully and efficiently, supporting positive service recovery when needed
- Maintain a clean, organized and fully stocked bar, including mise en place, glassware, garnishes and supplies
- Monitor stock levels and support appropriate inventory and product controls while minimizing waste
- Accurately process guest checks, payments, promotions and applicable discounts
- Support fellow colleagues with food running, beverage service, table resets and other operational needs during peak periods
- Maintain the bar and surrounding guest areas to Notch8 and Fairmont standards
- Follow all responsible beverage service, food safety, sanitation, health and safety requirements
- Complete opening, closing and other assigned duties to support seamless Notch8 operations
Qualifications
You’ll Be a Great Fit If You Have
- At least one year of bartending experience in a high-volume, upscale restaurant, bar or luxury hotel environment
- Strong knowledge of spirits, wine, beer, classic and contemporary cocktails, and beverage preparation
- A genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences
- Valid Serving It Right certification (required)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a confident and engaging guest presence
- Ability to remain composed, organized and guest-focused in a fast-paced environment
- Strong multitasking and problem-solving abilities
- A collaborative, team-first approach
- Reliability, punctuality and a strong sense of ownership
- Professional presentation and grooming
- Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems is an asset
- Professional fluency in spoken and written English; additional languages are an asset
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays
As this role supports our peak festive season, preference will be given to candidates who can commit to the full seasonal period from November 2026 through January 7, 2027, including weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Constant standing and walking throughout the shift
- Frequent lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 30 lbs.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling
- Regular use of stairs and ramps
- Frequent reaching, grasping and repetitive hand movements associated with beverage preparation and service
- Physical stamina and dexterity to support high-volume bar service, including carrying trays, beverages, glassware and bar supplies

Visa Requirements:
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
