Tesoro, the signature restaurant at Mövenpick Hotel Hobart, is looking for a reliable and hands-on Part-Time Kitchen Hand to join our culinary team.

Located in the heart of Hobart, Tesoro celebrates Italian-inspired dining using the best of Tasmanian produce. Behind every memorable dining experience is a clean, safe and well-organised kitchen.

As a Kitchen Hand, you will support the culinary team by maintaining clean and hygienic work areas, operating dishwashing equipment and ensuring our Food & Beverage outlets have the clean and sanitised equipment they need.

Job Description

 

  • Maintain clean and hygienic kitchen, food preparation, pantry and scullery areas
  • Operate dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently
  • Ensure all outlets are supplied with clean, dry and sanitised operating equipment
  • Count, sort and safely store crockery, cutlery, glassware and kitchen equipment
  • Complete scheduled cleaning duties, including deep cleaning floors, walls, cool rooms, ovens and equipment
  • Maintain the cleanliness and stock rotation of pantries, fridges and freezers
  • Assist with receiving, storing and organising stock
  • Assist with basic food preparation as directed by the culinary team
  • Handle cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and according to instructions
  • Collect and dispose of kitchen waste using safe and hygienic practices
  • Follow all food safety, hygiene, manual handling and workplace health and safety requirements
  • Complete assigned duties and provide a clear handover at the end of each shift

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a kitchen, hospitality, cleaning or stewarding role is desirable
  • An understanding of safe cleaning and chemical-handling practices is preferred
  • A strong commitment to cleanliness, hygiene and workplace safety
  • Good organisation and time-management skills
  • The ability to work independently and use initiative
  • A positive attitude and willingness to support the wider kitchen team
  • The ability to safely operate dishwashing and cleaning equipment
  • The physical capacity to undertake a hands-on role involving standing, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling
  • Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
  • Current working rights in Australia
