Job Description

We're looking for a dedicated and skilled Commis 2 - Tandoor to join our culinary team in Visakhapatnam, India. In this role, you'll work alongside our experienced chefs to prepare authentic Indian cuisine using traditional tandoor cooking methods. You'll be instrumental in maintaining the quality and consistency of our tandoor-prepared dishes while supporting a collaborative kitchen environment that values precision, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes using tandoor equipment, including marinated meats, breads, and vegetables, following established recipes and quality standards
  • Maintain proper temperature control and monitor tandoor operations to ensure optimal cooking conditions and food safety
  • Perform food preparation tasks including marinating, seasoning, and organizing ingredients with meticulous attention to detail
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to all food safety and hygiene protocols at all times
  • Collaborate effectively with kitchen team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely preparation of orders
  • Assist in inventory management and communicate ingredient needs to senior kitchen staff
  • Support the head chef and Commis 1 in training and mentoring junior kitchen staff when needed
  • Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure consistent quality and presentation of all tandoor dishes
  • Respond promptly to feedback and continuously improve cooking techniques and efficiency
  • Maintain resilience and composure during peak service hours while delivering exceptional results

Qualifications

**Required Skills & Competencies:**

  • Proficiency in tandoor cooking techniques and temperature management
  • Strong knife skills and food preparation abilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Physical stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with diverse team members

**Required Experience:**

  • Minimum 1-2 years of professional kitchen experience, preferably in Indian cuisine or tandoor cooking
  • Demonstrated experience working in a high-volume food service environment
  • Proven track record of maintaining food safety standards

**Education & Certifications:**

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Food Safety Certification (preferred)
  • Culinary training or apprenticeship in Indian cuisine (preferred)

**Domain Expertise:**

  • In-depth knowledge of Indian spices, ingredients, and flavor profiles
  • Understanding of tandoor equipment operation, maintenance, and safety protocols
  • Familiarity with traditional Indian cooking methods and regional cuisine variations
