Job Description
The Public Area & Staff Accommodation Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all public areas, back-of-house facilities, and team member accommodation are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, safety, and presentation. The role supervises housekeeping attendants and accommodation cleaners, conducts regular inspections, coordinates maintenance requirements, and promotes a safe and comfortable living environment for Heartists.
The position works closely with Engineering, Security, People & Culture, and other departments to ensure all public spaces and staff accommodation reflect the luxury standards of Gamra by Mantis.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Public Area Operations
- Supervise the cleaning and maintenance of all public areas, including:
- Lobby
- Reception
- Restaurants and lounges
- Meeting rooms
- Corridors
- Public washrooms
- Fitness and recreational facilities
- Outdoor guest areas
- Back-of-house offices and corridors
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure cleanliness and presentation meet brand standards.
- Ensure all public areas remain guest-ready throughout the day.
- Coordinate deep-cleaning schedules.
- Monitor cleaning quality and productivity.
Staff Accommodation Management
- Oversee the cleanliness and upkeep of all staff accommodation buildings and common areas.
- Conduct regular room inspections to ensure accommodation standards are maintained.
- Ensure kitchens, dining areas, lounges, laundry rooms, smoking areas, and recreational facilities remain clean and organized.
- Monitor housekeeping schedules for accommodation cleaners.
- Ensure new accommodation rooms are prepared before team member arrivals.
- Report misuse, damages, or policy violations to People & Culture and Security.
- Support room allocation and room readiness as requested by People & Culture.
Team Leadership
- Supervise Public Area Attendants and Accommodation Cleaners.
- Allocate daily assignments.
- Conduct shift briefings.
- Train new team members on cleaning standards and safe work practices.
- Monitor attendance, grooming, and productivity.
- Coach team members to continuously improve performance.
Quality Assurance
- Conduct daily inspections using departmental checklists.
- Ensure all cleaning tasks are completed according to SOPs.
- Monitor guest and colleague feedback relating to cleanliness.
- Implement corrective actions where required.
- Participate in internal quality audits.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with health, hygiene, and safety regulations.
- Monitor the safe use and storage of cleaning chemicals.
- Ensure proper PPE is used at all times.
- Report safety hazards immediately.
- Conduct routine safety inspections in accommodation and public areas.
- Ensure compliance with fire safety and emergency procedures.
Maintenance Coordination
- Identify maintenance issues during inspections.
- Raise work orders promptly through the maintenance system.
- Follow up with Engineering until completion.
- Verify completed repairs meet required standards.
- Monitor preventive maintenance activities in accommodation and public areas.
Inventory & Equipment
- Monitor housekeeping equipment condition.
- Ensure cleaning equipment is properly maintained.
- Control inventory of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
- Report damaged or missing equipment.
- Assist in monthly inventory counts.
Sustainability
- Promote environmentally responsible cleaning practices.
- Minimize waste of water, chemicals, and energy.
- Support recycling initiatives.
- Encourage sustainable housekeeping operations aligned with Mantis values.
Guest & Colleague Service
- Respond professionally to guest requests relating to public areas.
- Support colleagues by maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable accommodation environment.
- Address accommodation concerns promptly and professionally.
Administration
- Prepare daily inspection reports.
- Maintain accommodation inspection records.
- Monitor housekeeping attendance and daily productivity.
- Maintain chemical usage records.
- Submit maintenance reports and follow-up logs.
- Prepare monthly operational reports as required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required.
- Certificate or Diploma in Housekeeping or Hospitality is an advantage
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of housekeeping supervisory experience.
- Previous experience in public area housekeeping required.
- Staff accommodation management experience is an advantage.
- Hotel or resort experience preferred.
