Job Description
At SLS The Red Sea, every detail contributes to creating exceptional guest experiences. As a Laundry & Kitchen Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the resort’s kitchen and laundry equipment through effective maintenance, timely repairs, and proactive technical support.
Working as part of the Engineering team, you will support daily operations by maintaining critical equipment, identifying potential issues, and delivering reliable solutions that allow our Culinary, Laundry, and Operations teams to perform at the highest standards while ensuring safety, quality, and operational excellence.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on all kitchen and laundry equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair commercial kitchen equipment including ovens, combi ovens, fryers, grills, steamers, dishwashers, refrigeration units, and extraction systems.
- Maintain laundry equipment including washers, dryers, ironing machines, and other related operational systems.
- Conduct regular equipment inspections to identify faults, leaks, abnormal performance, or potential failures before they impact operations.
- Carry out maintenance and repairs on both electrical and gas-operated equipment in accordance with safety standards and manufacturer guidelines.
- Monitor refrigeration systems, chillers, freezers, and cold storage equipment to ensure proper temperature control and performance.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from Culinary, Laundry, and operational teams to minimize downtime and service interruptions.
- Perform routine checks and maintain accurate records of equipment condition, maintenance activities, repairs, and spare parts usage.
- Assist with the installation, testing, and commissioning of new kitchen and laundry equipment.
- Coordinate with external contractors and suppliers during equipment servicing, repairs, and technical support activities.
- Ensure all kitchen and laundry equipment complies with health, safety, hygiene, and operational standards.
- Support HACCP requirements by maintaining equipment reliability and reporting any issues affecting food safety operations.
- Maintain tools, spare parts, and workshop areas in an organized and safe condition.
- Provide technical support and communicate effectively with Engineering, Culinary, Laundry, and Operations teams.
- Follow all fire, health, safety, and environmental regulations while performing maintenance activities.
- Maintain a professional approach and contribute to a positive engineering culture through teamwork, accountability, and proactive support.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Kitchen, Laundry, or Engineering Technician within a hospitality or hotel environment.
- Hands-on experience with commercial kitchen and laundry equipment, including gas and electrical systems.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and basic repairs of equipment.
- Basic understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems related to kitchen and laundry operations.
- Familiarity with major kitchen and laundry equipment brands and models.
- Understanding of HACCP compliance, food safety, and hygiene standards.
- Ability to perform basic welding and minor fabrication tasks is an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with operational teams.
- Proficient in written and spoken English.
- Flexible to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties as required.
