Job Description

As Junior Sous Chef, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Sous Chef and Executive Chef in the daily operations of the kitchen. You will contribute to menu development, ensure the highest standards of food preparation and presentation, and inspire the team to excel in delivering exceptional dishes.
 

What you will be doing:

  • Assist in supervising and coordinating kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation.
  • Collaborate with the Sous and Executive Chef to develop innovative and inspiring menu items.
  • Ensure adherence to food quality standards, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines.
  • Maintain a safe and hygienic kitchen environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering their professional growth and development.
  • Manage inventory, place orders, and control food costs.
  • Participate in menu planning and special event preparations.
  • Step in for the Sous Chef or Executive Chef when necessary.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of kitchen processes and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Trade qualification in Kitchen Management or Commercial Cookery
  • At least two years' experience as a qualified Chef
  • Ability to lead, motivate, manage and develop others
  • Immaculate personal presentation and hygiene
  • High level of food safety standards and experience managing a HACCP certified kitchen
  • Strong capabilities in menu design and food costing
  • The ability to handle pressure, multi task and get the job done
  • Fluency in English and good communication skills.
  • Full Australian working rights - this role is not available for sponsorship
