Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Commis specializing in Asian Cuisine to join our culinary team in Chennai, India. As a Commis, you will play a crucial role in supporting our kitchen operations and contributing to the preparation of authentic Asian dishes.

  • Assist in the preparation of ingredients for Asian dishes, including washing, peeling, chopping, and measuring
  • Support senior chefs in cooking and plating various Asian cuisine specialties
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment properly
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth workflow during service
  • Learn and apply various Asian cooking techniques under the guidance of experienced chefs
  • Assist in inventory management and stock rotation
  • Contribute to menu development by suggesting ideas for new dishes or improvements to existing recipes
  • Participate in daily kitchen briefings and training sessions to enhance culinary skills

Qualifications

  • Culinary diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Food safety certification required
  • Strong knife skills and proficiency in basic food preparation techniques
  • Knowledge of Asian cuisine, ingredients, and cooking methods
  • Ability to operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to food quality
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Passion for cooking and eagerness to learn new culinary techniques
  • Prior kitchen experience is preferred but not required for entry-level candidates
