Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Purchasing Manager to join our team at Swissotel Corniche Park Towers Doha, Qatar. As the Purchasing Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and optimizing our organization's procurement processes, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery of goods and services.

  • Develop and implement strategic purchasing and procurement policies to enhance operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness
  • Manage the entire procurement lifecycle, from identifying potential suppliers to negotiating contracts and managing vendor relationships
  • Analyze market trends, pricing, and economic indicators to forecast supply and demand for products and services
  • Collaborate with department heads to understand their purchasing needs and ensure timely fulfillment
  • Oversee the evaluation and selection of suppliers based on price, quality, and delivery capabilities
  • Negotiate favorable terms with suppliers to optimize costs and maintain high-quality standards
  • Manage inventory levels to ensure adequate stock while minimizing excess inventory
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with local and international procurement laws, regulations, and company policies
  • Lead and mentor a team of purchasing professionals, fostering their growth and development
  • Implement and maintain procurement systems and software to streamline processes and improve data accuracy
  • Conduct regular performance reviews of suppliers and implement improvement strategies as needed
  • Prepare and present comprehensive procurement reports to senior management
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in procurement and supply chain management

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a senior purchasing or procurement role, preferably in a corporate setting
  • Strong command of English
  • Proven experience in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and vendor management
  • In-depth understanding of procurement processes, market dynamics, and supply chain management
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and experience with procurement software and ERP systems
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Strong leadership abilities with experience in managing and developing teams
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Knowledge of import/export procedures and international trade regulations
  • Familiarity with local business practices and regulations in Doha, Qatar
  • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to influence decision-making at all levels
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in cost analysis and budgeting
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven track record of implementing process improvements and cost-saving initiatives
  • CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) or similar professional certification is a plus
