Job Description
Providing Inspired Food & Beverage to highlight the destination we represent is one of our passions. As the Assistant Manager in our lobby venue, Pilina, you will be responsible for curating a superior guest experience through effective leadership, planning and directing of all restaurant activities. Your passion for all things F&B will lead you to provide the highest quality of service and hospitality, placing Pilina on the map as ‘the hottest place in town’.
What you will be doing:
- Support and collaborate with the Pilina General Manager on day-to-day operations for the venue
- Manage the day-to-day operations with active presence on the floor, leading your team to deliver service excellence
- Work in partnership with the Pilina General Manager & Resort Chef de Cuisine to execute a smooth and flawless operation of the front and back of house
- Drive revenue and profit for the department with implementing strategies, practices, and promotions while keeping in line with the overall concept
- Effectively manage the departmental budget
- Effectively recruit and onboard new colleagues
- Train and lead the team in all aspects of the department to ensure Pilina’s brand, service standards and SOPs are followed
- Promote the growth and development of internal talent
- Actively manage restaurant social media accounts in partnership with the Pilina General Manager and Marketing/PR Manager in accordance with marketing standards
- Collaborate with the Marketing/PR Manager, manage online reputation by responding in a timely and professional manner and addressing any concerns
- Maintain the safety and sanitation of the restaurant via local Health Department and Ecosure standards
- Ensure all brand standards and programs are in place and maintained
- Collaborate with other departments to contribute to the overall smooth operation of the hotel
- Work in partnership with the Pilina General Manager, Resort Chef de Cuisine and Bartender’s to create and maintain all restaurant menus while keeping with the overall concept of the restaurant
- Consistently drive innovation to be the ‘Hottest Place in Town’ by actively promoting Pilina
- Share Pilina’s story ad history of the islands with guests and colleagues
Qualifications
Your experience and skills include:
- Minimum two (2) years leadership experience in a Luxury Hotel Environment
- Must possess a high level of beverage knowledge including wines, spirits and cocktails
- Must have direct experience with curation or execution of a cocktail/beverage program
- Must have experience in a high volume bar or restaurant
- Experience in POS system(s) an asset
- Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process
- Must be service oriented and capable of communicating effectively with persons involved in all levels of authority, both internally and externally
- Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, and e-mail functions
- Must be able to multi-task and be detail-oriented in a fast paced, high volume environment
- Must have ability to work independently and to prioritize or seek clarification in prioritizing work assignments
- Experience in POS system(s) an asset
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent or vocational training
Licenses or Certificates:
- TB Clearance
- Maui County Liquor Card
- TIPS Certification
- Food Safety Certification or ServSafe Certification
