Job Description

  • Directs and controls all subordinate Room Attendants to ensure that all day to day operational matters are handled on time and guest expectations are met
  • Assigns Room for cleaning as per schedules and monitors the cleaning process
  • Ensures that vacant rooms are cleaned on time, checks them on completion of cleaning and reports back  to housekeeping once complete
  • Reports engineering failures and breakdowns and follows up on repair schedules
  • Oversees the cleanliness and maintenance of housekeeping pantries ensuring par stocks are properly in order
  • Oversees the condition of plants both within and outside the Room and reports any problems to immediate  supervisor
  • Oversees the mini bar operation ensuring bars are restocked in a timely and efficient manner
  • Oversees the issuing, controlling and application of housekeeping cleaning chemicals
  • To attend to any ad hoc guests requests ensuring that they are is properly attended to
  • To oversee the turndown process ensuring specially requested times are adhered to
  • Executes departmental administration filling in forms and checklists as required on time
  • Maintains and adheres to the policy regarding lost and found and reports any security concerns to supervisors  
  • Handles customer complaints if possible, or reports them to supervisors
  • Coaches, counsels, disciplines and develops subordinate employees          
  • Contributes to the morale and team spirit of the hotel by maintaining effective relationships with colleagues
  • Performs additional duties as directed by supervisors
  • Makes appropriate suggestions and recommendations to supervisors for the general improvement of the hotel
  • Is fully conversant with all health and safety, fire and emergency procedures
  • Maintains a high standard of personal hygiene, dress, uniform, and body language
  • Is polite and professional in any situation where the image or regulation of the hotel is represented
  • Attends meetings and training as required by supervisors

Qualifications

  • Proficient in the English language (verbal & written), second language is an asset.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive Housekeeping experience in a luxury hotel or a related field. 
  • Must have held same position in a luxury hotel Housekeeping or a related field.  
  • High School diploma and/ or experience in a hotel or a related field
  • Must be flexible in terms of working hours.
  • Must be physically fit in order to lift items up to 25 Kilograms.
  • Must have leadership and communication skills.
  • Must effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Must be able to handle a multitude of tasks in an intense, ever-changing environment.
  • Must be effective at handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must possess outstanding guest services skills, professional presentation and sophisticated communication skills
