Senior Business Intelligence BI Engineer (Remote)

Job Description 

As an engineer on the Analytics Management team, this position is responsible for executing the development & support of our BI solutions.  This position will work closely with our business partners & BI technical leads ensuring solutions meet their objectives including oversight of project delivery as well as management of day-to-day support activities.  

This position will play an active role in the Data Modernization project moving most of our Corporate Analytics to Power BI leading strategy and implementation while participating in the Corporate Data Governance effort.

What Will You Be Doing? 

  • Leading the other Engineers on the team, Business Analysis project members, and business partners to design and develop new Snowflake and Power BI objects including Dashboards, Reporting, and Apps among others. 
  • Provide technical requirements and guidance for implementation of Snowflake and Power BI objects.
  • Learn and support current on prem BI tools and processes while migrating to new Cloud tools
  • Develop, document, and drive best practices and collaboration with all PBI Engineers
  • Work with Project Management to communicate timely estimates, updates, project status, and lead communication to project participants
  • Work in a fast-paced Agile/Scrum environment

What Do You Need To Bring? 

  • 4+ years of experience in a BI Engineering role, specifically Power BI
  • 3+ years of experience developing database objects and views optimized for reporting
  • Strong organization, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Strong background in Power BI, Snowflake
  • Experience with retail industry, with focus on analytics, architecture and/or BI
  • Strong understanding of data management principles
  • Strong expertise with DAX and SQL
  • Ability to identify usage scenarios and patterns for BI solutions
  • Expertise with Developing Power BI paginated (ssrs) reports nice to have
  • Experience with other BI reporting solutions such as OBIEE and Tableau nice to have
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 5+ years of experience in various Analytics technologies within a large-scale organization
  • Personal Attributes: Self-starter, Collaborative, Curious, Strong work ethic, highly motivated, Team oriented
  • Experience designing and building BI Semantic layer models in an agile multi developer environment
  • Hands on experience with Cloud technologies and open source technologies
  • Experience working with end users in a support style environment
  • Experience with new system implementation and change management
  • Demonstrated ability in developing a culture that embraces innovation, and challenges existing paradigms
