Job Description
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Lead Area Market Access Success: Serve as the ultimate owner of the Area market access marketing strategy and resource development, ensuring Area Access and Account performance goals are met or exceeded.
- Manage Area Access Associate Marketing team: Provide day-to-day coaching, performance management, and strategic direction for Area Marketers to enhance strategic success, develop and implement pull-through initiatives, and foster robust internal and external stakeholder partnerships.
- Strategic Area Planning/ Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Area Access Leads, as well as Payer Strategy, Brand Business Units (BUs), and Strategic Channel Account Management teams to develop and execute strategic plans that are tailored to the Area Access stakeholders, including key local customer influencers (e.g., large employers, regional PBMs, health systems, large group practices), local policies (e.g., Medicaid), and other market trends (e.g., rise of aggregators)
- Customer & Stakeholder Expertise: Act as the regional expert on customer types, market trends, and payer landscapes, effectively translating insights into actionable strategies.
- Analytics & Decision-Making: Oversee regional support from MABI and other analytics teams to shape data-driven decisions, refine account management tools, and optimize tooling for region's field execution.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify best practices, share learnings with cross-functional teams, and proactively recommend process or strategic enhancements to advance AbbVie’s market access objectives.
- Performance Accountability: Drive customer account performance strategies rand pull-through plans, using data and analytics tools to ensure incentive structures and resources are in place for optimal account execution.
- Area-Level Marketing Execution: Develop and manage marketing materials to support Area Directors (ADs) and Executives (AEs) as they drive access in their market, including helping them address unique regional or customer-type challenges (e.g., 340B, rate challenges, rise of aggregators, etc.)
- Cross-Brand & Multi-Customer Expertise: Maintain a deep understanding of multiple brands, diverse customer types (e.g., IDNs, VISNs, Employers), and sub-regional variations to drive effective targeting and resource allocation.
- Ongoing Optimization: Continuously update and refine marketing strategies in response to evolving market landscapes, payer policies, and competitive dynamics, ensuring AbbVie’s market access objectives are consistently met or exceeded.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Life Sciences, or a related field
- Demonstrated ability (5+ years) to develop and execute marketing strategies in a pharmaceutical or biotech environment
- Demonstrated ability to lead
- >7 years Marketing management experience, ideally experience supporting C-suite account management preferred
- >3 years Account management experience
- >3 years of Market Access Experience
- >12 total combined years of health care industry experience
- Proven management experience leading teams or managing direct reports in a complex, matrixed environment
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to adapt broader brand Payer or BU strategies into localized market initiatives.
- Experience developing local, data-driven strategies based on pharmaceutical market access frameworks
- Strong analytical skills and familiarity with business intelligence tools to develop strategies strategic decision-making
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (MBA, MPH, etc.)
- Proven experience in payer marketing, market access, or health policy.
- Working knowledge of market access and customer management across types (e.g., regional payers, PBMs, 340B, state Medicaid, IDNs).
Ability to navigate matrixed organizations and influence without direct authority, fostering collaboration and alignment
