Job Description
As a leader in AbbVie Precision Medicine, provide strategic oversight of the psychiatry pillar within the Neuroscience Therapeutic Area, lead a team of Precision Medicine Leads supporting psychiatry trials, drive biomarker and precision strategies above-asset and within disease area(s), and accountable to deliver precision medicine impact to the pipeline across the entire psychiatry portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the direction and execution of precision medicine scientific strategy for psychiatry in alignment with cross-functional, asset, and enterprise goals.
- Establishes scientific standards in psychiatry precision medicine that position AbbVie as a global leader, championing those standards for both internal and external innovation and from study teams to senior leadership.
- Leads or supports with discovery and development leaders the scientific pursuits of precision medicine in psychiatry including but not limited to biomarker discovery, early proof of concept, alternative endpoints, patient subtypes, asset differentiation, and reverse translation.
- Lead and mentor a team of precision medicine leads supporting successful design and execution of precision medicine strategies that meet appropriate scientific goals and standards as well as enterprise needs.
- Builds effective relationships outside the department. Through these relationships provide subject matter expertise to above-asset, cross-functional workstreams and activities including but not limited disease-area strategies, strategic long-range planning and business development.
- Anticipates and prioritizes emerging scientific trends; defines, pioneers, and implements innovative and breakthrough solutions and technologies to meet future needs in consultation with stakeholders.
- Establish the long-term scientific direction of precision medicine in psychiatry and adjust long-term plans to remain continually aligned enterprise future needs and goals.
- Keeps identified stakeholders informed by presenting scientific goals, concepts and technology to leaders and partners, maximizing the impact and value of own and AbbVie’s leadership position.
- Build and maintain relationships with experts externally as well as one’s own reputation as an expert within the field of psychiatry; contribute to the state of the science, participate in congresses, and serve on industry/academic consortia; elevate AbbVie as a scientific leader in psychiatry.
Qualifications
- PhD in Science or related field with 14 years of related work experience; Master's Degree in Science or related field or PharmD with 20 years of related work experience; Bachelor's Degree in Science or related field with 22 years of related work experience.
- Proven ability to innovate with a history of successful new or improved product releases.
- Ability to advise discipline experts and leaders across AbbVie on how to manage their particular risks.
- Interacts well with diverse groups across functions and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators.
- Listens and understands others' point of views and articulates tactfully and respectfully one's own perspective orally, in writing, and in presentations.
- Interpersonal skills capable of negotiating and reconciling interdisciplinary differences, optimizing overall Abbvie goals.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of thisposting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location,and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
