Job Description

Purpose

Monitors equipment and manufacturing process. Sets-up, cleans-up, and maintains equipment. Reacts appropriately to unanticipated conditions and intended actions, troubleshoots problems, and informs supervision as needed. Observes quality characteristics of products and processes and understand the impact to the product. Sets the example for other technicians to follow all safety, quality, environmental, operational expectations. Trains less experienced technicians. Identifies opportunities for improvements and leads the implementation of change both in physical operations and written documents.

Responsibilities

  • Exercises job knowledge to independently perform job responsibilities.
  • Provides on the job training where necessary for less experienced technicians.
  • Analyzes equipment performance for potential maintenance issues. Anticipates issues with manufacturing productivity and works to resolve alarm issues and equipment failures.
  • Sets the example in following all safety, quality, environmental and operational policies. Communicates all operational events and issues with appropriate individuals. Assist in driving the productivity of the group/shift.
  • Leads and organizes technicians in solving problem situations. Recommends and leads improvements on manufacturing and departmental processes and procedures.
  • Conducts all business in a professional manner. Confronts issues in a constructive manner at an appropriate organizational level and takes ownership of tasks.
  • Participates in the sharing of information to promote overall efficiency of production. Attends and actively participates in meetings.
  • Articulates problems and provides a positive media for group communication.
  • Participate and/or assist engineers in the design of process equipment or systems for optimal performance. Assist in the start-up of new and troubleshoots existing facilities/equipment to ensure optimal operation and performance.
  • Coordinate sample delivery (in-process, cleaning, final product) and storage conditions

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required. Bachelors or Associates Degree in a scientific related field is desirable. Job requires basic technical or mechanical background and knowledge.
  • 10+ years of appropriate work experience in a chemical or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • Strong operating knowledge of complex equipment and monitors manufacturing processes within a GMP environment.
  • Knowledge of drug substance or drug product development, quality principles, the manufacture of clinical and non-GMP drug substance or drug product development in the development of pharmaceuticals.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems through effective use of technical and interpersonal skills and a basic understanding of the impact and effect of his/her decisions.
  • Must be able to work semi-independently and lead small teams within one’s own functional area.
  • Strong knowledge of basic computer programs and manufacturing monitoring systems and can train less experienced technicians on the systems.
