Job Description

The U.S. healthcare system is complex and evolving. For AbbVie to lead the industry in this environment, it is vital that our US Market Access (USMAx) Strategy and Pipeline Team thoroughly comprehend the current and future state of the evolving U.S. healthcare space and market access channels.

The Associate Director, USMAx Pipeline, Oncology will help lead U.S. market access strategy development for early oncology pipeline priority assets and support overall portfolio strategy. This role will leverage clinical understanding, expertise of Evidence Based Medicine, alongside US health system knowledge, and competitive insights to shape pivotal clinical development programs for pre-launch compounds, bringing the voice of U.S. payers to our early drug development process.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Create an overall price, reimbursement and access (PRA) strategy for oncology assets aligned to the commercial strategy and overall AbbVie Oncology Strategy.
  • Address reimbursement and pricing potential and inform early price position
  • Strategically partner with PCS and IMAP to develop Early Integrated Value Proposition (EIVP) for key solid tumor assets.
  • Co-Lead the Value and Access Teams (VATs) with International Market Access (IMAP) Colleagues and lead creation of US Integrated Access Strategies (IAS).
  • Contribute to Disease Area Strategies and Early Integrated Value Propositions within the AbbVie Oncology Portfolio and collaborate with Teams across BUs, IMAP, Medical, HEOR, IRA, R&D and others to ensure the value drivers of USMAx Decision Makers are incorporated into Pipeline Commercialization Strategies.
  • Work closely across USMAx Teams to stay close to channel customer dynamics and priorities, to support decision making.
  • Proactively ensure reimbursement perspective is incorporated into early brand plans, disease area strategies and portfolio strategies throughout key clinical development milestones and strategic commercial decisions.
  • Inform key asset milestone decisions by identifying access trade-offs (price, speed, population) and supporting teams in governance
  • Maintain oncology US market access assigned budget.

Qualifications:

  • Executive presence, communication skills, and ability to advocate for / defend positions
  • Basic understanding of payer and reimbursement dynamics and key environmental risks for the Immunology portfolio
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt and make decisions with less than perfect information
  • Demonstrated history of collaboration and team orientation, with experience accomplishing results through others and by influencing others 
  • Demonstrated ability to align cross-functional stakeholders and influence without authority
  • Positive, solutions-oriented attitude aligned with Market Access culture
  • 5+ years of biopharmaceutical or Payer experience, Market Access / Immunology / Marketing experience preferred 
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
