Job Description
Purpose
The Category Manager, Market Research, Data & Analytics will partner with AbbVie’s Commercial business, serving as the primary procurement liaison for the Analytics and Business Insights teams. This position contributes to the design and execution of category procurement strategies crafted alongside the Global Category Lead and senior leadership, overseeing the end-to-end procurement process for market research, data services, and analytics-related spend. The Category Manager is responsible for optimizing supplier management, driving cost efficiencies, and delivering value in alignment with business priorities and compliance standards.
NOTE: This is a hybrid role in North Chicago (3 days in-office / 2 days remote)
Responsibilities
- Lead category strategy implementation with Global Category Lead for Market Research, Data, and Analytics categories for the AbbVie Commercial organization.
- Build constructive relationships with key stakeholders in the Market Analytics and Business Insights teams, influencing and gaining alignment of jointly developed business strategies.
- Demonstrate an understanding of market research, data, and analytic value chain applying fact-based negotiation tactics and strengthening supplier partnerships through supplier relationship management (SRM) programs
- Achieve annual cost-saving targets and play an active role in developing long-term value creation plans for the category.
- Share supplier performance data, industry developments, and external/internal category insights with the Global Category Lead to inform strategic decision-making.
- Lead sourcing projects (RFP, RFI, RFQ, pricing events) leveraging working with a team of sourcing experts to carry out category strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners on contract negotiation, ensuring timely execution and risk mitigation.
- Be a change agent for innovation to push the status quo and support organizational design transformations.
- Seamlessly navigate an agile environment with changing business needs and multiple stakeholder groups to drive actionable results.
- Operate with high ethical standards, in compliance with the law and AbbVie policies and procedures.
- Mentor Procurement Specialists and other Category Managers, contributing to talent development and functional learning.
- Uphold high ethical standards, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, analytics, or a related discipline.
- 5-7 years’ experience in procurement, supply chain, or similar operational fields. 2+ years of Category management of Market Research, Data and Analytics required.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing supplier relationships and leading quarterly business reviews for insights or data solutions.
- Knowledge of the market research and analytics landscape, including vendor cost structures, industry drivers, and regulatory constraints.
- Proven communication and influencing skills, with experience building consensus across mid-to-senior management and functional teams.
- Advanced project management abilities, adept at coordinating and delivering on multiple strategic initiatives.
- Skilled at synthesizing and interpreting complex data sets to generate actionable business insights.
- Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, with a collaborative approach to partnership and stakeholder management.
- Self-motivated, resilient work ethic, able to maintain high performance in challenging environments.
- High proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (including Power Platform) and relevant data analysis tools.
