Job Description

Head – MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing)

Location : Gurgaon

Reporting To : COO

The role of a Head of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) – Design Engineering is to lead and manage the complete MEP design function for projects such as airports, buildings, metro, industrial, commercial, or infrastructure developments.

Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead the MEP design department and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

  • Allocate resources, review performance, and mentor engineers/designers.

  • Coordinate with architects, structural, civil, and project management teams.

2. MEP Design Management

  • Oversee the design of:

    • HVAC systems

    • Electrical systems

    • Fire fighting & fire alarm systems

    • Plumbing & drainage systems

    • ELV/Security systems

  • Ensure designs comply with client requirements, codes, standards, and statutory regulations.

3. Design Review & Approval

  • Review concept, schematic, detailed, and IFC drawings.

  • Validate calculations, BOQs, technical specifications, and load estimations.

  • Approve technical submissions and consultant deliverables.

4. Coordination & Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and authorities.

  • Attend design review meetings and resolve technical clashes/issues.

  • Support tendering and procurement activities.

5. Project Planning & Execution Support

  • Monitor design schedules and ensure timely delivery.

  • Support construction teams with technical clarifications.

  • Review RFIs, shop drawings, and site changes.

6. Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to:

    • NBC

    • IS Codes

    • ASHRAE

    • NFPA

    • IEC and other applicable standards

  • Implement QA/QC processes for design deliverables.

7. Budget & Cost Optimization

  • Optimize design for cost efficiency and energy performance.

  • Support value engineering initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of MEP systems and integrated building services.

  • Expertise in software such as:

    • AutoCAD

    • Revit MEP

    • Navisworks

    • ETAP

    • HAP

    • Dialux

  • Leadership, coordination, and client management skills.

  • Understanding of BIM and sustainable design practices.

Qualifications

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Professional certifications in BIM/Project Management will be an added advantage.

Experience

  • 20+ years of relevant experience in MEP design engineering.
  • Experience in large infrastructure/building projects such as:
    • Airports
    • Metro/Rail
    • Commercial complexes
    • Hospitals
    • Industrial projects
    • Data centers
  • Prior experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams is mandatory.
