Job Description

APM’s agile development team delivers the digital products, web applications and reporting solutions that support the organisation across Australia and New Zealand. As our product portfolio grows, we are strengthening our capability in modern business analysis, automation and emerging technologies to improve service delivery and user experience.

We are looking for a Business Analyst with strong analytical skills and experience working in software development or product delivery environments. You will work closely with product owners, developers, testers and operational stakeholders to understand business needs, document requirements, and support the delivery of enhancements across our digital platforms.

This is a hybrid role, with days in our Geelong office and days working remotely

A day in the life…

  • Facilitate workshops and discovery sessions to gather and clarify business requirements.
  • Analyse and document business processes, workflows, system interactions and data requirements.
  • Translate requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria and functional documentation.
  • Work closely with developers and testers throughout the SDLC to ensure shared understanding.
  • Support test planning and user acceptance testing.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve digital user experience.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement across agile practices and product delivery.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders across Australia and New Zealand.
  • Use modern tools — including AI‑assisted analysis or documentation tools where appropriate — to support efficient BA work.
  • Help assess where automation or emerging technologies could add value in future projects.

We’re looking for someone with…

  • Experience as a Business Analyst in a software development, digital product or agile delivery environment
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Experience preparing system requirements, user stories, process maps and business documentation
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple initiatives
  • Experience with agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban)
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps (desirable)
  • Exposure to wireframing, prototyping or UX design (desirable)
  • Knowledge of the Employment Services industry or government programs (highly regarded)
  • Interest or experience in automation, data‑driven decision‑making or AI‑related tools (desirable but not essential)
